Hi all,
I am author of Deployment from Scratch which took me 3 years to write and which will hit 1100 sales pretty soon.
It's a solid long book based on hard efforts, but for my second book on Kamal I am doing things differently:
I am writing it because Kamal is trending as a new tool and future Rails 8 default. It's still incredibly niche, but there is some potential.
I am keeping it super short and practical, so I can publish it in weeks.
I decided to write it only after putting several applications to production with Kamal, writing Kamal blog posts and experimenting.
So I set up an absolutely simple Gumroad page and put a link on my Twitter.
I sold 68 copies during the day and night, closed 3 affiliates, and a principal engineer from the company behind Kamal bought a copy as well!
What I think worked:
Some people specifically mentioned how they liked my first book while buying the second.
Here's the Twitter post if you are curious: https://twitter.com/strzibnyj/status/1766290578273423733
Now back to writing!
