Every day, I struggle with distractions and the comfort of procrastination. Whether at work, writing on the side, studying new skills, or trying to learn coding, my mind is constantly tempted to indulge in the easy way out, such as watching YouTube videos.
It’s a strange feeling, not wanting to do something I know I want to do, but I realize it’s a significant problem.
Spending a year watching YouTube instead of doing what I really want to do would greatly impact my life and character.
So, I’ve tried different ways of dealing with this urge, and over the past year, a straightforward reminder has made a huge difference to me: I’ve never regretted doing good work.
I have never prepared for an exam and thought, “I shouldn’t have studied for that.” I have never left the gym after a workout and said, “That was a waste of time.” Writing and coding have been my passions for the past five years.
I have never finished a project and thought, “I wish I hadn’t spent so much time on that.”
Therefore, every time I find myself staring at a blank page or feeling too scared to take risks, I remind myself that I have never regretted doing what I love. It’s always difficult to start, but it’s always worth finishing.
