I quit my job (default), and want to build some income streams
As the title says, I've quit my job like a do each year, haha. Because I'm not an employee persona at all.
Finally, I accepted this truth and did not gonna back to work again.
Because, you know, you shouldn't take any risks when you can just back to work any time and get some stability that keeps you calm and doesn't force you to take any active actions towards your entrepreneur journey.
That's why I'm interested in creating different income streams that support me during my indie hacking journey (yeah, I know, just another way to gain "stability", but for me, it's more like "survival").
Please share your experience building such income streams (except SaaS projects, of course) and how do you fill that money gap when there are a lot of product hypotheses to test, but you need money to live :)
I'm an experienced Full-Stack dev, so considering the following options:
- Freelancing (some helpful links appreciated)
- Write an e-book
- Create a programming course for Udemy
- Mentoring/Consulting
- Just take a risk and push my project to ramen profitability in any way
What helps you to test as many product hypotheses as you can without carrying enough money for living that much?
Same, I think I'm done with employment. I try to limit contracting to max 20 hours/wk and use that to get by while working on side projects.
I feel like that would be a problem anyway. You could just return back to a comfortable career. I do agree, a "do or die" attitude can help to push through. Having said that, I far prefer the peace of mind knowing I can support myself over x months without worrying about work.
I think it's a case of reducing the amount of time and resources it takes to run the tests. You could spend months writing an ebook or just setup a landing page with the idea and take emails as a way to gauge interest.
Looking at that list, we're spoiled with opportunity. You could make each and every one of them work. As I say, I personally freelance to tie me over, though I would prefer to be entirely product based. If that's the dream, push for it! :P
