I thought building the product would be the hard part.
It wasn’t.
Finding the right problem to solve was.
I originally started building Last Contact as a way to help people keep track of who they’d blocked across different platforms.
Then I spent weeks reading hundreds of stories from people trying to maintain no contact after toxic relationships.
One thing kept coming up:
It wasn’t just the messages.
It was the unexpected reminders.
A playlist.
A parking lot.
A memory on social media.
A birthday reminder.
A mutual friend.
A random photo.
I realized the real problem wasn’t blocking someone.
It was navigating the digital world after you’ve already decided to move on.
That completely changed the direction of the product.
I’m still very early, and I’m looking for brutally honest feedback from other builders.
Does the landing page clearly communicate the problem?
Is the value proposition obvious?
What would make you leave immediately?
I’d appreciate any thoughts:
The shift from "blocking people" to "living with no contact" feels like the real insight. I'd keep validating whether users are buying another blocking tool or emotional control over unexpected digital triggers after they've already made the decision to move on. That's a much harder problem to copy.
I really appreciate this perspective because it’s exactly where my thinking has been shifting.
I originally started with the blocking problem, but after reading hundreds of breakup stories and talking with people in no-contact communities, it became clear that blocking is only one small part of a much bigger challenge.
The real goal is helping people maintain no contact despite all the unexpected digital reminders that pull them backward.
That’s definitely the direction I’m continuing to validate. Thanks for taking the time to point that out.
I'm glad it resonated.
Reading your reply gave me one thought about what changes once the product stops helping people block someone and starts helping them protect a decision they've already made. I'd rather explain it in the context of what you're building than try to condense it into a few comments.
If you're interested, what's the best email to reach you on?
Thanks, I really appreciate that. Your point about “protecting a decision” instead of just “blocking someone” really stuck with me.
I’d genuinely love to hear your thoughts in more detail. You can reach me at hello@lastcontact.app. Looking forward to it.
Thanks! I’ve just sent it over.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts whenever you have a chance.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. I’m especially interested in hearing from anyone who’s been through no contact after a breakup or toxic relationship. If you don’t think Last Contact solves a real problem, I’d genuinely love to know why. Honest feedback—positive or negative—will help shape where I take the product next. Even if it’s just your first impression, I’d really appreciate you sharing your thoughts.
