I redesigned my landing page, please critique it!

Hi Indie Hackers!

I’ve just completed a round of refactoring on my landing page and I’m looking for feedback on everything from the design to the copywriting to the overall idea!

You can checkout the site here → https://flipzen.herokuapp.com

OPA: You need to move from feature driven copy to benefit driven. Examples:

    A Bed

    • Feature: Strong frame and soft mattress
    • Benefit: A great night's sleep

    Diet Coke

    • Feature: Low calorie soda
    • Benefit: Helps you look better

    Slack

    • Feature: Chat platform for your staff
    • Benefit: Reduce email by 50%

      This is 100% correct.

@justinvincent Thanks for taking the time to check out my site! I think making a transition to benefit driven copy is a tereffic idea. I'll start workshopping this tonight. Thanks again!

It's not clear if I am the target audience.

Is it for business? Is it for everybody? Is it targeted for US only?

Can you give me a specific example of how I can win from it?

    1. 1

Interesting questions @dremovd . I definitely need to make this clearer through the copy on the site.

In regard to the actual answer, I think the answer is "it depends". Much like any other saas offering I've created a tier structure with different feature sets for hobbists (everybody), standard users (SMBs like pawn shops), as well as enterprises that require custom features. I hope this answers your question but if not feel free to ask anything else and I'd be happy to answer!

Points to note, some of the contents in H1 at the top scroll outside the screen view.
The textbox to put-in email to subscribe is really invisible/small on a mobile phone
The page has excess overflow, maybe you might want to restrict that.

    1. 1

Hey @CreativeJoe thanks for taking the time to check out the site! It's admittedly not very mobile responsive right now, I'm going to try to tackle that in the next iteration!

  4. 1

Viewing on an iPhone 10xs - hamburger menu not working. The word find is obscured by the header. Best to be on your own domain for perceived trust.

    1. 1

@ptoner Thank you for noting those bugs! I've added them to a working list of known bugs to tackle when I refactor the site to be fully responsive!

  5. 1

did a Google Image search on the testimonial avatars.
Mismatch on names (besides being obvious that they're fake).

    maybe remove them?

    1. 1

@DanTheMan thanks for taking the time to check out the site! You're right I am just using placeholder images from Unsplash while I wait for the real images they would like to use. Hopefully I'll have them before the next iteration because you're right it's pretty obvious that they're stock photos :)

clean simple, nice! My only thought / question is the pricing seems bit high or why would I pay for this? But it's just a gut feeling, I'm probably not the target audience anyway.

It would be nice though to know a baseline of why the $9 for the things I get is a good deal. Are there other similar services that are more expensive? Or maybe because the average underpriced items you find are at least 50% cheaper, so w/1 flip I will have made my monthly fee back already? What can you do to entice me more? Or even a free trial?

    1. 1

Thanks for taking the time to critique my site @abiem I truly appreciate it! You're spot on in that I could easily add a table which shows the prices of competitors ($50 - $150+) right above my pricing to elucidate the value of the offering better, so I think I'm going to do that in the next iteration :) I think a free trial might make sense at some time in the future (when an influx of users would degrade the experience of the users already on platform), but for the forseeable roadmap I think all tiers will be paid. Thanks again for your feedback!

    Hello,
Personal point here, I really like to be able to select the text while I'm reading it, don't know how you managed to disable that
    But still, I like it!

    1. 1

@Alextousss I appreciate the feedback! I didn't know this was something people liked, but I can easily make the text selectable. Thanks again for the feedback!

The boxes should stand out from the bg (search-analyze-win)..they should look like there is an order..1.search, 2.analyze,3.win
Photos in the testimonial section looks like stock photos-does not look trustworthy.

    1. 1

@HackyPecker Thank you for the feedback! Adding numbers to the how it works section could be a quick win. You got me on the stock faces, I'm still waiting on them to send photos!! Thanks again for the feedback 👍

You may want to include the logos of the marketplaces you search from near the bottom of the blue area above the fold. I think this would convey trust and help the design flow a little better. (IMHO)

You may need some sort of disclaimer statement if you choose to use these logos that they are not affiliated with you etc.

    1. 1

Hey @jpmorgan thanks for checking out my site! I think adding logos of the marketplaces that get searched ( just ebay/amazon/craigslist for now) could be a nice touch. Do you know where I should include the disclaimer? Thanks again!

      1. 1

Maybe have an asterisk next to them and then put the disclaimer in the footer? That would be my gut instinct.

        1. 1

@jpmorgan Not a bad idea! What do you think about something like this: https://github.com/froala/design-blocks/blob/dev/screenshots/testimonials/7.jpg

          1. 1

Yeah. Something like that. I'd make the logos all white so they contrast well with your blue background.

  10. 1

    value proposal is clear.
landing is branding-free, not so convincing the service does exist.

    1. 1

Hi @Edgy thanks for the feedback. I'm not quite sure what you mean by branding-free, could you clarify? Thanks again!

      1. 1

I meant that there currently is no branding, no brand identity.

        1. 1

@Edgy Ahh okay I think I understand what you're saying! Like I haven't designed a logo and whatnot?

  11. 1

    Awesome!

The one thing that jumps out at me is the use of passive voice in the H1 tag.

Saying "being sold" in your H1 is kind of like stumbling when you first walk out on stage. You can recover from it, but you're not going to look nearly as cool as you should.

Other than that... very cool. I think you'll do well with this.

    1. 1

Thanks for the feedback @Bangkokian I really appreciate you taking the time to look at my site! I agree that the copy in the blue section could be more striking. I got that comment that last time I posted for feedback but I struggled to find something to change it to. Now that I've gotten the comment twice I'll add it to a list of things that definitely need to be fixed in the next iteration. Thanks again for the feedback!

  12. 1

    I like it, good stuff!

For the testimonial profiles you're loading in images over 2700px. I would consider resizing those, but the design itself looks cool.

    1. 1

Hi @andreigaspar thanks for taking a look! Good point, I'll definitely lower the quality of the images to make them more suitable for the web. Thanks again for the feedback!

  13. 1

Reaching out to this group is fine. Your data must come from customers, not makers. Only A/B split testing can feed you the correct feedback. And only when you have at least 500 unique visitors a month in your funnel. Landing pages are about CRO.

    1. 1

@gator70 I agree, talking to customers is the true north star! Just hoping to get initial feedback from my fellow indie hackers before I start marketing the service. Thanks for taking the time to look at my post!

  14. 1

Looks a lot better than the first version you uploaded. Congrats!

A small tip - your social proof (testimonials) are currently in a stand-alone section. Because they aren't visible near your main call to action, they aren't really doing what they should be doing (handling the objections of the customer at the moment they are considering clicking on the request access button).

Here's a quick cheatsheet on how to set that up better and make more conversions.

    Good luck!

@louisswiss Thanks for taking another look and for sharing this resource! Your advice totally makes sense, I'll definitely rethink the testimonial section to make it more effective.
