"I sent the link to one person, but 10 people opened it." So I built this.

A few weeks ago, a founder shared a proposal through DocBeacon. The next morning he pinged me: “I’m seeing views from places I don’t recognize. The link must have been forwarded. I’m not upset it was shared — I just want to know who actually read it.”

That message stuck with me. Open links are fast but too loose. Access codes add friction but are easy to share. Passwords are worse. We needed a middle ground: lightweight, but tied to identity.

So we built Verified Email Access.

How it works:

1. You choose “Verified Email” on a share.
2. The recipient receives a one‑time code in their inbox.
3. Only that verified email can open the doc.

It keeps sharing simple while making access attributable. No more “I don’t know who actually opened this.”

We shipped it this week and I’d love feedback from other builders:
