I ship a tiny status page before the next soft launch so hunters don't ask "is it down?"

I used to treat launch morning like a marketing day and ignore ops until something smoked. Then a daily board day on Aura++ sent a real spike, a deploy hiccup ate fifteen minutes, and the comment thread filled with "is it down?" before I had even finished my coffee. I spent the next hour apologizing instead of answering buyer questions. The ranking was fine. Trust was not.

That is when I started shipping a tiny status page before the next soft launch — not a fancy status.incident.io empire. One boring public page. Last known-good deploy time. What is green. What is flaky today. One email or form if something looks wrong. Link it in the listing footer and under the primary CTA on the landing page. Hunters who arrive cold from a daily board do not want vibes. They want to know the product is alive while they try it.

My checklist the night before a board day is short:

1. Hit the signup, login, and one core job path myself — not a screenshot from last week.

2. Confirm Stripe (or whatever takes money) is not stuck in test mode on the live domain.

3. Update the status page with the deploy stamp and one honest line if anything is half-ready.

4. Paste the status URL into the board description and the site footer so I do not have to type it into every reply.

I still pick boards with care — I keep Best Launch Platforms open when I am choosing where the spike will land — but the status page is what keeps that spike from turning into a support theater. When something does flake, I point at the page, fix the thing, and keep the comment thread for product questions. I wrote more about turning those comments into users in how to turn launch-day comments into paying users. The quiet prep is the status line, not another upvote spreadsheet.

You do not need perfect uptime theater for an indie launch. You need a place hunters can check before they assume you ghosted them mid-signup.

Do you have a public status link ready before your next daily board day — or do you still find out you are down from a stranger's comment?
