I shipped an AI API proxy in one day with Claude Code. 5 days in, still zero signups.

Last week I shipped Prism — an AI API proxy that routes queries to the optimal model across Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google. Built the entire thing in a single day across 8 Claude Code sessions. Real Razorpay payments, three providers, session memory, failover, dashboard, docs, blog. All of it.

Some context on me: I'm a Chartered Accountant who never practiced. Self-taught builder. This is my first real SaaS launch.

The problem I was solving (for myself)

I was building another product that made a lot of AI API calls. Some were simple — extract a name from an email, summarize a paragraph, classify a ticket. Others were complex — multi-step reasoning, financial analysis. But I was sending everything to Claude Sonnet because I didn't want to manage three providers and write routing logic.

I was overpaying by probably 40-50% on the simple stuff.

What Prism does

Three modes: Eco, Balanced, Sport. You send an OpenAI-compatible request with a mode header. A classifier looks at the query complexity and routes it to the optimal model. Simple stuff goes to Gemini Flash or Haiku. Complex reasoning goes to Sonnet or Opus.

The differentiator I'm most excited about: session memory. Every AI API is stateless. Add one header (X-Prism-Session) and Prism manages conversation history across calls. No Redis on your side. No context assembly code.

Stack: FastAPI on Railway, Next.js on Vercel, Supabase, Upstash Redis. All free tiers.

The honest update: 5 days in, zero signups

Here's where it gets real. I launched publicly on day 1. Since then:

  • Posted on Twitter (3 threads)

  • Posted on r/IndieHackers (this post)

  • Posted on r/artificial (removed by filters)

  • Published 2 blog posts

  • Submitted to 4 directories

  • Got 15-20 unique visitors

Zero signups. Zero paying customers.

I'm not discouraged — I expected this. Marketing is a compound game and week one is supposed to be slow. But I'm posting this here because I want to hear from people who've been through it. What worked for you in the first month? What's the single highest-leverage thing I should be doing right now that I'm not?

I'm here to learn, not to pitch.

Happy to answer any questions — about the build, the stack, the decision to do everything with Claude Code, or anything else. And if you try it and break something, please tell me.
