I sold a fork of my WIP product

I've been hacking on a podcasting platform since December. I started it because it was always something I wanted to do -- years ago I started a couple of podcasts and always loved the feeling of publishing content. I didn't like the idea that I had to have a wordpress server to create and host the XML file.

A few years went by and I was messing around with Node and figured out how to generate an XML file on the fly...that was cool. The next step was generating the file and just putting it on a CDN. That really sped up the delivery!

My church has been using some ancient content management software to admin their podcasts. I figured I could make something better, so I started building Podlicious.

A developer friend mentioned me to a husband/wife team who were building a service similar to mine. Initially I was going to build it with them, but I realized that I just didn't have the time to devote to it, given my day job. Ultimately we agreed that I would sell them a fork of the source code, without me having to finish it first! I was able to keep working on it too, and release my own version when the time came. Win win!

So that's the story so far. The next step is getting a beta page set up so I can get some early customers/testers.
