I sometimes waste time on building nice landing pages instead of getting customers - help!

So I am currently building this SaaS, but since I am a product guy and not that deep into marketing, I would like to get your opinion on how to get people to talk to me about the app. Do you want to help me?

Just get 1 customer today. Then do the same tomorrow. And again and again.

Within a week, it won't seem scary. It'll be part of your routine, and you can just do it.

"Getting a customer" is a really tough metric to use since the outcome usually outside your control.
I suggest a KPI along the lines of "talk/pitch to X new people about your product". It would be more beneficial for your motivation.

great advice! will definitely establish kpi

you are right. i will try to target people more granular and careful

"Prevent user churn when it's too late" >> I'm not sure what this even means. Do you mean "BEFORE" it's too late? Get your landing page reviewed by a native English speaker.

You also have a few phrases/sentences that don't sound natural. For eg: "Users want to be acknowledged".

I think things like these will drastically lower your conversion rate. Especially the headline piece.

Remember: Clarity > Persuasion. If people don't understand what you sell, they won't buy.

i thought my english would be good :D i will definitely rework the copies. the headline was meant to be a bit confusing but you are completely right. no one will take the time to understand a humble text when it is meant to be understood immediately.

    You know what Gabriel!
I also faced a similar problem just like you're facing so here is how I solved my problem.

Find a one real person who is having the problem which you are solving and talk with him:

    1. Don't interrupt just listen.
    2. Ask all problems related to the {niche} you are solving the problem.
    3. Once he/she is done with talking ask about what is their biggest problem among all the problems you have talked about!

Then finally ask for feedback, repeat the answer which you get from the customer, and see their expression!

great advice, thank you! do you have any feedback on the product itself? :)

      1. 1

I would love to give you the feedback, but I didn't even understand the meaning of churn rate!
I can google it, but I am already exhausted!

Just a suggestion, though, Start talking about the problem in the second fold!

Ah really? I thought churn would be a pretty established term in the saas world. Its one of the key problems of every saas so i assumed it is pretty clear. I can rephrase it to cancellation though. Thanks for the comment!

    Interesting product!
For a product like yours, I would signup to a lot of forums, subreddits, quora categories, etc.. in the SaaS niche and try to help people as much as possible, then you can slowly start promoting your app there. I believe you can easily find a few users this way!

Good luck and keep it up 👌

thank you very much for your suggestions. i now understand that it is a greater deal than i thought to be honest. i will try to get more involved in communities and distribute content and stuff.

It depends a bit where you are on your journey to product/market-fit.

In the early stage, there is nothing like direct communication. And you don't even need a landing page for this. Find 20-50 people in your target group and talk to them 1:1. Understand their problem, how they are currently dealing with it and why it's a problem for them, if they would pay for an easy solution and so on....

Later stage (like you already have 100+ users) you can probably start with a feedback form/chatbot and then engage 1:1 with the ones who have actually something to say ;)

Seems like you are targeting SaaS? I would try to find people here and on LinkedIn then.

that is true indeed. i am a bit lazy when it comes to those tasks - i am more of an automation guy. but i think it is necessary to talk to everyone in person. will definitely do that!

      1. 1

IMHO there is no alternative for that in the early stages, unfortunately. But obv. automation comes in later to take over!

  6. 2

Try giving feedback to other early stage entrepreneurs (who you want as users). I’m sure most will return the favor!

Great idea! On the topic of feedback, I'm looking for feedback on DarkColors, a tool to visually test website color ideas: https://www.darkcolors.digital/workspace

    2. 1

yeah i will definitely do that. i am pretty busy right now with my main job, but i will try to give more feedback again. i really like helping and consulting people so its a walk in the park :)

1 . Start by creating an irresistible offer. Our offer was a free trial with no credit card required, so people could try our product without any risk.

2 . Make sure your website is optimized for conversions. We used lead capture forms and pop-ups to make it easy for people to sign up for our free trial.

3 . Use social media to drive traffic to your website. We promoted our offer on Facebook and Twitter, and saw a significant increase in traffic as a result.

4 . Reach out to bloggers and journalists who might be interested in writing about your product . We contacted several bloggers and journalists who were interested in writing about us, and this helped us reach even more people .

5 . Finally , stay focused and don't give up ! It takes hard work and dedication but if you keep at it , you ' ll eventually see results.

You should definitely check out our 100K MRR plan.

thank you for your advice. i feel that most of the information i need is already in my mind and the one that is not is free, so i will consider joining your notion in the future.

Unless you hit 100 customers, it's better to go after your users. This is the fastest way to get traction. Niche down your ideal customer profile, find where they hang out, get into calls, close sales, and build on their feedback. I regularly help early-stage saas founders do these and hit 12K ARR in 3 months, just drop me a DM on Twitter.
