I start 50 side projects and finish zero. So I’m hard-coding "Atomic Habits" into an app.

Hi Indie Hackers,

I have a classic problem: I love starting projects, but I struggle to finish them.

I read Atomic Habits like everyone else. I got motivated for 3 days, set up a complex Notion dashboard, and then... completely forgot about it a week later.

The Problem: I realized that for people like me, standard productivity tools have a fatal flaw: They rely on willpower. They feel like "admin work." If I have to spend energy just to track my habits, I inevitably stop doing them.

The Solution: Life II I decided to stop fighting my brain and start hacking it. I’m building Life II.

It’s a "State Machine" for habits disguised as an RPG.

  • XP System: Every boring task (water, gym, walk) gives instant dopamine (XP).

  • The Shop: I earn "Gold" to buy real-life rewards (e.g., I can't ride my motorcycle until I pay 100 Gold).

  • Aggressive Logic: It doesn't ask nicely. It breaks streaks and locks features if I slack off.

The Tech Stack (For the devs):

  • Frontend: Flutter (Single codebase for iOS, Android, Web).

  • Backend: Firebase (Auth + Firestore).

  • Architecture: A local-first sync engine using Provider. I designed it to work offline.

Current Status:

  • Day: 15

  • Revenue: $0

  • Motivation: High (for now).

For those who have tried apps like Habitica or Notion templates: Why did you quit? I want to make sure I don't build the exact same trap.

Roast the idea or say hi. 👋

Update: I felt bad sending you guys to a raw app link, so I stayed up all night building a proper home for the project. Check it out: https://playlife2.com
