I started tracking which launch days actually brought email signups, not just upvotes

For a long time I treated the upvote count like the scoreboard. Day ends, I screenshot the number, I feel something. Then a week later the inbox is quiet and I realise I was celebrating a number that never paid rent.

So I started a boring habit. After every daily board day I write three lines in a note: source tag on the signup form, how many emails that day, how many of those opened the product in week one. Not fancy analytics. Just enough to stop lying to myself.

What showed up surprised me. Some days with a mid pack rank on the Aura++ daily launch board brought more real emails than a higher spot elsewhere. Hunters who actually clicked through and typed an address behaved different from people who just tapped upvote and left. The ranking looked fine. The signup column told the truth.

I still care about place. I’m not pretending votes are worthless. They create social proof and they keep the listing visible a bit longer. But if I’m picking which day to be online answering comments, I pick the day that historically converts into emails, not the day that flatters my ego. On Best Launch Platforms I keep a short note next to each board now: upvote theatre vs signup theatre. Aura++ sits in the signup column more often than I expected for a daily board.

The trick that helped was a UTM or a plain “came from launch” field. Without it I was guessing. With it I could see Tuesday’s quiet board beat Thursday’s noisy one twice in a row.

If you launch regularly, do you track signups per board day, or are you still mostly watching the upvote number at midnight?
