I stopped asking “how do I get more users?” and started asking this instead

For months, my default growth question was:

“How do I get more users?”

That question kept pushing me toward:

  • more posts

  • more channels

  • more outreach

None of it really moved.

The question that actually helped was:

“Where do users already ask for what I built?”

Once I started tracking that, a few things became obvious:

  • Buying decisions are fast and public

  • Most happen in hours, not days

  • If you miss the moment, the best product doesn’t matter

I kept seeing “looking for X” posts where:

  • replies rolled in within minutes

  • shortlists formed quickly

  • decisions were basically done

By the time I found them manually, I was late.

This is the problem I’m building LeadSynth AI (https://www.leadsynthai.app/) to solve; catching real buying intent the moment it shows up.

So instead of optimizing content, I started optimizing reaction speed:

  • catching explicit intent

  • replying with context, not pitches

  • showing up while evaluation was happening

It changed how we think about distribution entirely.

Curious how others here think about this:

  • Do you track where demand shows up?

  • Or are you mostly creating demand and hoping timing works out?

Would love to hear what’s working (or not) for you right now.

Recently, I’ve been looking into SaaS that automatically find leads on Reddit, and I was a bit surprised by your pricing. Most similar products seem to be around €50 per month, including well-established ones like Reddix, while yours is priced at roughly double that. I was therefore wondering what justifies this difference in price ?

Also we have 30% off all plans for Indie Hackers

    2. 1

Well we also allow for AI agents to do the outbound for you and we dont just monitor Reddit we also monitor Linkedin and X

This really hit....I’ve always focused on creating demand, hoping that timing would work out.
The idea of tracking where people already ask for the solution (and showing up with context, not a pitch) feels much smarter.
I plan to test this approach, particularly the aspect of "responding with context.

Curious: did you notice any patterns in which communities had the fastest buying intent?

    1. 1

Well all communities have buying intent buried in them its just a matter of what your'e selling and who you're targeting but buying intent is in all communities.

Im curious did you manage to sign up to leadsynth?

    Timely, personalized, professional. Extremely important.

I like this approach a lot. It's clear and straightforward. I haven't tried it yet, but I'll use it for my launch soon. Thanks for sharing!

Looking forward to having you on the platfrom, your'e welcome!

This reframing is powerful. “Where do users already ask for this?” gets you out of the content treadmill and into real demand.

What stood out to me is the timing insight — buying decisions are often compressed, not gradual. By the time most founders notice demand, the shortlist is already set.

Optimizing for reaction speed instead of reach feels like a much more honest way to think about distribution, especially for early products.

Curious: when you spot explicit intent early, what matters more in the reply — speed, relevance/context, or social proof?

    1. 1

context always, because if you send a bad message quickly then its like you sent nothing at all and its a waste as the customer wont bother reading your message so you have to keep a balance between context and speed in the replies

Super insightful. ‘Deliver value’ at the moment of need or ‘just in time’.

    1. 1

      Exactly!

Did you manage to try LeadSynth also?

  7. 1

    Congrats on the launch

One quick thing I see founders miss early is clarity above the fold.

Happy to share 1–2 suggestions if helpful.

  8. 1

Acting fast on user feedback has helped

  9. 1

Good idea, but how do you track intent and which industry?

    1. 1

Depends on what our user is selling we track to their niche so it all depends on the user context.

This makes total sense. It’s usually best to follow the give-first approach: join conversations where people are already discussing your problem, offer helpful input, and build trust. That way, you can share your solution without coming off as spammy. Jumping in with real value right when the discussion is happening is key.

    1. 1

Exactly! Also quick question: Did you manage to try LeadSynth?

  11. 1

This is such a solid shift in mindset moving from “push” to “pull.”

I’ve noticed the same in my own work: the fastest wins aren’t about more content or ads they’re about being present when intent is visible. Timing matters way more than volume.

    1. 1

Exactly, talk to people who need what you offer

  12. 1

This is a really compelling approach to lead enrichment — I like how you’re automating the synthesis of contact data instead of just scraping or aggregating APIs.

One thing that stood out to me is the focus on contextual accuracy rather than volume alone — that’s often the real challenge with automated lead tools. Curious how you’re handling edge cases where signals are ambiguous or conflicting (e.g., multiple roles, partial matches across sources)?

Also interested in whether you’ve experimented with prioritization/quality scoring — what metrics help you filter for best fit leads versus just most leads. Looking forward to seeing how it evolves!

    1. 1

Yes actually we do already have quality scoring in place and we dont allow leads below a specific threshold to pass through to ensure only the highest and most contextual quality leads are passed through.

  13. 1

    This resonates a lot.

I see the same pattern around release decisions. The moment when someone asks “should we ship today?” is very short, very real, and usually public inside a team. Once that window passes, the decision is already made and hindsight doesn’t help.

Optimizing for reaction speed vs content creation is an important shift. Timing beats polish when stakes are high.
