So I was wondering to add to the newsletter some text explaining that i do not use G.A. anymore and just Netlify Analytics which are server side to tell them that they are not tracked?
Also, what about having a small pop up explaining that?
Thanks a lot.
Why would you have to and why should they Even care? π
Well , first, I would like to know if I am tracked or not.
In this case users are web developers, digital designers, gamers,...and tech savvy people.
Many uses adblockers so it felt common sense...
I am just not sure if this is standard practice.
99% of your audience won't care which tools you are using to proving your service.
However, in your newsletter, if you need content, you can maybe write that you update frequently your website to offer a better & faster service, and you have juste changed your analytics tracking system.
Yes, most won't care. But, as an example I do so I thought probably more than one thinks like me.
Also it was my plan to include it on the newsletter...
Many sites have a cookie policy page, you could write about it there for those that are interested. I think the biggest benefit is that you don't have to use a popup for cookie consent to comply with GDPR (Which I think is a big annoyance). π
NΓ€men, tjΓ€nare.
Yeah, I agree they are annoying, really annoying...
I have a legal page mentioning google analytics but I have to change it. I could put it there maybe?
I have been using metomic, but I do not need it anymore to be honest.
Your users care about privacy/cookies/tracking way, way, way less than you do. Focus on their desires, not yours.
Well I am not 100% sure of that, so just in case...
Nice!
I wouldn't put it as a popup as it is not required to "distract" visitors for this. That's more for serious cases such as tracking of personal data, sharing of data with third-parties for advertising purposes etc.
But perhaps put it on your about page or somewhere in the footer? Something like "This site doesn't track you" and link that to a more detailed explanation on how you're thinking about this and what steps you've taken.
Hey marko,
I guess i will rewrite the Legal page.
I could actually put it on the footer. as
C&F does not tack you we are using server-side analytics. and a learn more like on the same line inking to Netlify's analytics?
Thank you so much Marko
Something like that could work. I've seen some link to the open dashboard with their stats from the footer like that too. In all these cases you're basically upfront and direct and using the fact that you're not tracking personal data or doing personalized advertising to your advantage in your communication to your audience.
Yeah i like the idea of having open stats actually... may even do that. Not sure if it's possible though...
I'm not sure if they have it. It's one of the features some people like the most about Plausible.
I don't think so either, I can just point to the one on Netlify... I guess.
Why would you want to tell the users? Do you think your users will care?

Majority of people in that group actually don't care, most of them know it simply doesn't hurt them, it's not like you're getting their email and share it to evil companies.
It's true there's a group very conscious of privacy, but I don't think the majority of your traffic is from that group.
I don't know I just felt It was the right move to let them know.
You view it as useful information. They might view it as a nag.
As a nag?

Of course not a feature, but I want them to know the site is not tracking them...just for them to trust it...
