I studied CS but never worked as a dev. AI gave me a second chance — so I went indie

Got a CS degree. Never worked a single day as a software engineer — by choice.
I wrote code occasionally for my own side projects, but the idea of being a full-time developer felt genuinely exhausting. The treadmill of new frameworks, constant upskilling, keeping up — it just wasn't for me. I told myself the management path was the smarter route to eventually owning something.
Then AI made that entire calculus irrelevant.
I don't need to be a senior engineer anymore. I need to understand systems, think like a founder, and use AI as a co-pilot to close the gaps. That combination is surprisingly powerful.
So I ruled out the obvious options:

Corporate job — I'd be trading autonomy for a paycheck again
Freelance — top platforms are restricted in my region

That left the path I actually wanted: indie hacker.
I'm building my first product from scratch: AI Friend — an AI companion chat app built with Flutter + Supabase. I'll be sharing everything in public — real numbers, mistakes, dead ends, and whatever actually works.
