A few weeks ago, after a trip, I woke up with a swollen left leg—thanks to sodium overload and poor hydration awareness. I realized there was no tool that dynamically adjusted hydration recommendations based on what you eat, drink, and your daily activity . That personal wake-up call was the spark for Sip Pal.
Most water‑logging apps offer static goals (“8 glasses a day”), which don’t respond to real-world factors like sodium intake or ambient activity.
After my experience, I saw the need for a more nuanced, real-time hydration coach.
So I Vibe‑coded Sip Pal, the first AI-powered hydration coach built with Vercel’s V0 tool .
Sip Pal isn’t just a tracker:
🧠 It adjusts your hydration goals in real time based on weight, meals, and activity.
🧂 It recognizes sodium intake from meal photos (via Gemini API)—going over 2300 mg/day raises your water target.
💬 It offers personalized coaching aimed at wellness goals like energy, focus, or digestion.
🟢🔴 It marks hydrating drinks as green and dehydrating ones as red for at‑a‑glance clarity.
Personal pain turned mission: I experienced the frustration firsthand—so I built a tool to solve it.
Opportunity in hydration: Despite the proliferation of wellness apps, none dynamically adapt to hydration-influencing variables.
Tech meets health: With V0’s rapid prototyping and Gemini’s AI power, I could build something real fast and refine based on real user feedback
I’ve personally felt sharper focus, better workouts, and steadier energy levels—without relying on caffeine binges .
A community conversation (e.g., “If I drink 6 beers, do I hit my water goal?”) led to a meaningful UX improvement—Sip Pal now flags dehydrating drinks like beer, updating hydration goals accordingly
Would love your take:
• Does this “hydration coach” idea resonate?
• What would make it genuinely useful ?
• Anything good, bad, ugly ?
Feel free to leave and comments on this post. happy to jam!
Also Im doing evals, testing which LLMs build better features across Claude, GPT-4, and SWE-1.
