I thought a broader market would make VIDI stronger. I was wrong.

I thought a broader market would make VIDI stronger. I was wrong.

When I first started building VIDI, my thinking around the market was much broader.

At the beginning, I was almost approaching it like someone trying to build parts for every type of vehicle at once - trucks, sports cars, SUVs, everything.

At first, I assumed a broader market automatically meant a stronger product. But over time, I started realizing that narrowing the focus actually created much more clarity.

Over time, the conversations started becoming less about adding more things and more about simplifying what actually mattered.

That shift slowly changed how I think about the product overall, where I wanted to spend more attention, and even how I thought about pricing.

One thing I’m learning quickly:

sometimes products become stronger not because you expand the market - but because you understand which part matters most right now.

Ironically, narrowing the focus ended up increasing the perceived value much more than simply adding more features.

Still extremely early obviously.
Still refining things every week while building VIDI solo.

This is a huge founder lesson. Narrowing the focus usually increases clarity, positioning, and perceived value way more than adding features ever does.

The “parts for every vehicle” analogy explains it perfectly.

Appreciate it 🙌 honestly, I probably underestimated how powerful clarity and focus can be early on.

        so Where are you from?

  2. 1

Makes sense honestly. A lot of businesses get stronger once the focus becomes clearer instead of trying to solve everything for everyone at once.

Yeah, I’m starting to realize that too more and more over time.

  3. 1

Appreciate it 🙌 one of the biggest things I’m learning right now is that clarity often comes more from narrowing focus than constantly expanding scope.

Makes sense. A clearer focus usually makes it easier for people to immediately understand the value too.

Exactly. Simpler positioning usually makes the value much easier to understand quickly.
