I thought selling digital products was easy. The automation part was the hard part.

I thought selling digital products would be simple.

Create a product.
Build a landing page.
Add a payment link.

Done.

But I quickly realized the difficult part starts after someone buys.

A real digital product workflow needs to answer:

  • How do I know when a customer purchases?
  • How do I deliver the product automatically?
  • How do I notify customers?
  • How do I track orders and customer information?

At the beginning, doing these things manually is fine.

But as soon as you have multiple customers, the small tasks start adding up.

Checking payments.
Sending files.
Updating customer records.
Following up with users.

The product isn't the only thing you're building.

You're also building a small business system.

I started experimenting with a simple no-code automation stack:

Payhip

Make

Telegram

Notion

The goal was simple:

  • payment events trigger workflows
  • customers receive automated notifications
  • orders are recorded automatically
  • customer information stays organized

This eventually became Hermes Automation Examples.

I documented the workflows and examples here:

The project currently includes examples for:

  • Telegram order notifications
  • Digital product delivery workflows

I'm curious:

For people selling digital products:

What part of your workflow is still manual today?

Payments?
Delivery?
Customer support?
Tracking?
