I tried running Reddit ads for my newsletter

Hi guys,

I recently came to know that reddit offers $100 free credit for reddit ads.

So I decided to give it a try & run ads for my big bang launch newsletter.

To get started, I used this reddit ad template shared by an indie hacker recently that had performed extremely well and tweaked it to fit my newsletter.

In the next step, I had to select the subreddits where I wanted my ad to be displayed. I chose SaaS, startups, entrepreneur, marketing and a few more.

Once that was done, finally I setup a budget of $5/day, published the ad and sent it for review.

It's been almost a week since my ad has been live and here are my stats:

Impressions: 11,920
Clicks: 29
CPC: $1.09
Total spent: $31.68
New subscribers: 5

Observation so far:

The cost per click is way higher on reddit ads than what I've noticed usually on other platforms like facebook(where it is usually only a few cents per click), and I'm not sure how I can improve it further.

Have you run reddit ads before? What was your experience with it?

Used to run Reddit ads last year, didn't really work as good as the Twitter ones tho!

I'm also planning to try twitter ads next. Can you share any tips or what type of ads work best on twitter?

Congratulations on taking the initiative to try out Reddit ads and for sharing your experience and stats with us! Your efforts are inspiring and showcase the importance of trying new marketing strategies.

It's fantastic that you were able to make use of a successful ad template and tailor it to fit your big bang launch newsletter. Your careful selection of relevant subreddits to display your ad is also commendable.

Your observations so far are valuable, and it's important to acknowledge that different platforms have different CPC rates, and it can vary based on various factors, including audience, competition, and ad content. However, it's great that you are open to improving the performance of your ad further and looking for ways to optimize it.

I believe your experience with Reddit ads will be beneficial to many other marketers out there who are considering using Reddit for advertising. Your willingness to share your results and ask for feedback shows your commitment to continuous learning and growth.

Keep up the excellent work and remember that every experience, good or bad, is an opportunity to learn and improve. I wish you all the best for the future of your big bang launch newsletter!

Thank you for sharing the numbers!
Maybe trying some different headlines can help, but i don't know how much tho that ctr is super low. Are you planning on running more reddit ads in the near future?

Just subscribed to the newsletter btw, your content is great.

I'm glad you liked the newsletter 🤗

Yes, I'm planning to run more ads to test it out. Like you said, I think I'm going to try different headlines and creatives.

I've only heard bad things about Reddit ads on here and elsewhere 😅 Have you tried other stuff such as organically posting in subreddits? I've written this guide for it and used it myself in the past to great success 😁

I too have heard only bad things about reddit ads until I found a case study recently. It was really nice to someone finally crack reddit ads and wanted to give it a try using the same approach.

I've tried organically posting on other subreddits and that has worked pretty good so far. Just looking for a way to get consistent traffic.

Thanks for the guide btw, will check it out!

Do you mind sharing a link to this case study?
