I tried to code an app in Claude 3.5 Sonnet

So I tried to code an entire app in sonnet this weekend

Full flow in Django

Front end, backend, database Whole 9 yards

My observations - it’s decently good but lacks context

It repeatedly makes the same mistakes and omits original code context

So for example, it will fix one problem but then will omit another important function that should be supported.

Also it would be a lot better if the coding could be done within Claude. That would be a game changer on this front. Currently I am having to cut and paste within terminal and it takes a bit of time

How has your experience been coding apps within Claude?

  1. 1

I don't code applications with Claude per se. I use it to unblock me or get me started with things that I have no clue where to start from.
For building apps with AI, I'm using Codeium. (I've also heard that Supermaven is great for that usecase due to its very long context window).

I agree that workflow and content preservation would both be greatly enhanced with integrating coding inside of Claude.

    kinda same feeling..

  4. 1

Same. It's not quite there yet, but it's getting close.
