I tried Twitter giveaway. Results, Takeaways, Next steps.

Hey fellow indiehackers! πŸ‘‹

My recent, minor, temporal popularity peak on Twitter (read more here) motivated me to surf that wave.

I came up with an idea of a $5,000 worth design sprint giveaway to celebrate our anniversary. One quote tweet to enter.

Of course, my goal has been to increase Twitter following and brand awareness, but also wanted to give back to the fantastic community and work on something cool.

I struggled a bit with how to formulate the contest, but after a quick telegram chat with @harrydry, I posted this one.

So far, 10 people have entered the giveaway.
Not bad, given we have 132 followers.

The only distribution channels have been Twitter and two IH posts submitted to the relatively overlooked group "Deals"

Key Takeaways

  • The tweet has not been clear enough. Some people commented on it with no RT, some just retweeted without any comment.

  • 75 required retweets does take some power off. But you know why it's there :)

  • A design sprint is not a MacBook or an amazon gift card - not many needs it, not everyone understands what it actually is.

  • I didn't do a good job explaining what's inside. $5,000 worth sounds good but vague

Next Steps

  • This giveaway is evergreen. Once it hits the magic number 75 RT's, we'll set a deadline (likely 48 hours) and pick the winner.

  • I will probably build some more awareness about the process in the twitter thread. However, no two projects are the same and the actual scope will be individually discussed.

Who is it for?

If you have a product idea and needs professional consultancy, wireframes, and MVP UI - go for it!

If you have a live product but thinking about rebranding, designing new features, or general UI/UX overhaul - you should do it!

Sounds like a nice Christmas present 🎁
