Hey Indie Hackers. I am the maker of aivideomaker.ai. I started this after I lucked into a free GPU. A couple of friends helped with UI and early testing. My goal is simple. Keep a generous free tier alive while covering GPU costs with a small paid plan.
What is live now
Text to video and image to video
Free tier: 5-second 480p clips, one job at a time, about 90 seconds to render, no watermark, powered by Wan 2.2
Paid tier: 720p HD, commercial use, parallel jobs, longer clips in testing at about 8 seconds
Safety: filters that block sexual content and violent content at prompt time and at output review
Why I am sharing here
I want feedback from builders who care about clarity, UX, and sustainability more than hype. If this can break even, I can add more GPUs and keep improving quality and presets.
Where I would love your thoughts
Headline clarity
The homepage headline says “Unlimited, No Sign-Up” and the exact free limits appear right underneath. Would you put the limits in the headline itself for full clarity, or keep the short hook up top and explain details just below?HD lock and upgrade moment
The Quality menu shows 720p with a lock. Is that clear enough? Would a small tooltip like “Unlock HD and commercial use” help at the moment of need?Demo and onboarding
I currently show three sample clips with prompt captions. Would you rather see fewer larger previews, or a small grid that expands on click so people can scan quickly? Any quick win to reduce first-time confusion?Pricing shape
If you tried this, which feels best: a one-time upgrade, a monthly plan, or pay-as-you-go credits? The goal is to match real compute costs without surprise.Safety filters and messages
When a prompt is blocked, should the app say “Blocked for sexual content” or keep it generic with a link to a short policy page? Would you want a Standard vs Strict toggle, where Strict blocks anything that even looks close to adult or graphic?
What I learned so far
Saying “unlimited” without context confused people. Adding exact limits early made conversations friendlier.
Real demos beat copy. People try it more after seeing outputs.
I am still stabilizing the longer clip path so it does not fail under load.

Very exciting project! here are some quick thoughts, on pricing personally i think monthly is just the best. it is probably much clearer if you say blocked for sexual content and add a link to the policy! Super impressive, excited to see where you take it next!

You have one of the best ideas but there's always a room for improvement. With more tweaks and changes in some words you can see a great change in your revenue raise. you can raise it to over $500-1000

For the homepage, maybe just clarify the “unlimited” line a bit—something like “Unlimited short clips, no sign-up” might set expectations better.
Also +1 for adding a little tooltip on the 720p lock. That’s usually the moment users are most ready to upgrade, so even a tiny nudge helps.

What pack size would you pick: 10, 25, or 50 clips? For safety I'll use a neutral message: "Blocked for adult content". Does that read okay?
