I’ve been building a small browser game called Freshers.dev.
The idea is simple:
You sign in with GitHub, get turned into a fictional engineer archetype, then play a 5-minute roguelike where you try to survive the software industry—Big Tech, startups, layoffs, AI hype, appraisa
The GitHub sign-in as character creation is a genuinely clever mechanic because it makes the starting state personal without requiring the player to fill out a form. You already know who you are in the game before you've done anything.
The five-minute run length is the right call for a browser game in this category. Long enough to feel like something happened, short enough to try again immediately. Whether the satirical events land as funny or just stressful probably depends on how close to the bone the writing goes.
