I’ve reviewed 250+ freelancer profiles & 90% of freelancers make the same mistake.

While hiring for my company "Panze - UX Design Studio" I noticed something worrying.

Recently, a few people messaged me offering services like:
SEO.
Article writing.
Content creation.

I replied with just one question:
👉 “Can you share one real case study?”

Most replies looked like this:
– No real data
– No before & after
– No proof of work
– Just generic words

As someone with 9 years in freelancing, here’s what I actually look for:
• When did you start working with the client?
• What was the situation before you joined?
• What exactly did YOU do?
• What changed after your work? (numbers matter)

If your case study doesn’t answer these,
I can’t understand your value.

And if I can’t understand it,
I can’t trust it.

Friendly advice for freelancers:
Don’t sell skills.
Show outcomes.

This hits home. As a buyer, it’s almost impossible to trust vague promises without real numbers or context. Case studies don’t need to be fancy — they just need to clearly show the problem, your actions, and the results. Funny enough, I was reading a similar breakdown while browsing KK33 Game, and the same idea applies everywhere: outcomes matter more than claims. Solid advice for any freelancer trying to stand out.

Great post, Mahmudul! I agree, outcomes over skills is the key. In my experience, AI-powered insights and data-driven results are what truly matter to clients. Instead of generic skills, showcase the impact you’ve made, before and after with real numbers. That’s how you build trust and demonstrate real value!

spot on. most freelancers talk about what they do, not what changed because of them. even a small case study with honest numbers beats ten vague claims. outcomes build trust faster than any pitch.

That's so useful Hasan, I can see a lots of upcomer freelancers make the same mistake mentioned above.

Hey, I would love to connect! I’m considering launching a free crypto invoicing tool for freelancers and small online businesses.I’m trying to figure out if there is actual demand for this before i start building. I already have the infra structure ready. Just trying to connect with as many freelancers as I can, before I start building :)

You can publish a post to freelancer group on X or linkedin.

I’ve reviewed 250+ freelancer profiles, and 90% make the same mistake: focusing on skills instead of results, benefits, and how they truly solve client problems.

      I didn't hire anyone from that 250 😄

This is very accurate. Asking for real examples with before/after data filters out a lot of noise.
I’ve noticed that people who actually did the work usually have no problem sharing specifics.

You don't have to share your work publicly, but to get hired, you need to share it with potential employers. Otherwise, they won't trust you.

    I'm new here.
    I just saw your introduction.
You opinion is correct and practical.
High skills without enough experience can't be admitted , I think.
I hope your work is going well.

This is 100% accurate. Skills without proof mean nothing to a hiring decision.

  10. 1

Freelancers should focus on showcasing results over skills. Clear outcomes build trust and demonstrate true value.

Exactly, without data noone will trust you 🤨
