3 years ago, I was a coordinator. My job? List hundreds of products across different ecommerce platforms every week.
That meant dealing with massive spreadsheets full of image URLs. And here's what drove me absolutely insane: downloading each image manually. Open link → Save image → Rename file → Repeat 500 times.
I knew there had to be a better way. So I built a small desktop script for myself. Feed it an Excel file with URLs and SKUs, and it would download everything into organized folders automatically.
That script saved me hours every single week. My coworkers saw it and wanted it. Then other teams reached out. So I turned it into a real product: Sheet Image Downloader (sheetimagedownloader.com).
What it does:
Takes URLs from Excel, CSV, or Google Sheets
Downloads all images in bulk—no clicking 500 links
Names files by SKU automatically
Sorts into folders based on your rules
Keeps everything linked back to the original spreadsheet row
Who it's for:
Ecommerce teams, catalog managers, virtual assistants, operations people—anyone stuck doing "spreadsheet to image folder" grunt work.
Use cases I'm seeing:
Supplier catalog cleanup
Product image backups before marketplace migration
Auditing hundreds of product photos
Weekly spreadsheet-driven download jobs
Current status:
Just launched the desktop version. Users prep their sheet (URLs + SKUs + folder rules) and the tool handles the rest. No manual link opening. No renaming hell.
Why I'm sharing:
Because I know there are other coordinators, ops people, and VAs out there wasting hours on this. Also because the Indie Hackers community has been a huge inspiration—seeing people turn their own workflow frustrations into real products gave me the push to finally ship this.
Questions for you all:
Anyone else here built a tool to solve your own daily work frustration?
What's your "I can't believe I have to do this manually" task right now?
Happy to answer questions about the build, the tech stack, or how I'm approaching launch.
