As a founder, I'm constantly trying to learn a dozen new things at once—marketing, sales, a bit of code, etc. My biggest frustration was finishing a course and feeling like I'd retained almost nothing a month later. It felt like a massive waste of time.
I started digging into the science of learning and stumbled upon "Assessment-Led Learning." The core idea is simple: you learn and retain information 10x better when you're forced to actively recall it (i.e., by being tested) versus passively consuming it (watching a video).
I've shifted my entire learning process to be test-driven. I find practice tests or build my own flashcards before I even finish the material. It's been a game-changer for retention.
Wrote up all my research and the framework I'm using now. Hope this helps other founders who are short on time and need to make their learning count.
