I was stupid. Here's how work and results are actually correlated

I have been indie hacking for more than 3 years now and I had completely misunderstood the correlation between work and results.

Greater effort is not directly proportional to better results.

... and the results of your work are never immediate.

Results happen when they need to happen. There is no point waiting for them.

Customers have their own journey and the months of effort you had put in before start showing results at a random point in time.

Also, not all kinds of work are equal.

Spending time on Twitter, and casually browsing indie hacker forums are waste of time disguised as effort. The same goes for spending time on analytics.

These are complete time sinks.

I have spent countless hours building features that nobody used for a year - that's a full 12 months of time.

But out of nowhere, a couple of customers signed up just because of that feature.

Plain luck or ... maybe that is how things work(I have realised).

What am I doing differently in 2023 then?

The most sensible thing based on the above is to detach effort from results. Have low expectations about everything I do. I have absolutely no control over how Blanq will turn out.

All I need to just put my head down and work and hope at some point in time of my life, it takes off!
