I will review your Mobile Apps!

Hey IndieHackers, I am new here & thought what better way to start than by helping out others. I am a veteran mobile app developer(9+ yrs of experience) with a keen sense of UI/UX.

Here's what I am offering:

  1. Review & provide feedback on existing mobile apps
  2. Chat about your mobile strategy & what route to go with(Native vs React Native vs Flutter vs Something else)
  3. Help you fix a major problem in your app by bouncing off ideas as to what may be causing the problem.

For now, I am going to try & keep this limited to 15people/products to begin with.

Feel free to reply here with you email or Twitter & I will reach out :)

Yeah I'd love a review as a backlink we could work something out where we can put an affiliate link on your site and get you paid a little bit. We do have a redesigned mobile app but from the looks of it it might take us three months to build out so we're trying to perfect the app that we have in the store as far as crashes and issues. The app is called timekeeper Bank and it's in the Android store we also have an IOS app but the Android app has video chatting. Let me know if you're interested and I'll send you a scheduling link so we can have a chat. Since we're early stage company backlinks are super important right now. Our new UI is pretty amazing but moving into this project at the beginning it was pretty difficult to design the UI it's actually 4 years old. We plan to rebuild with latest technology our app is native. We will be rebuilding in kotlin.

    Hello Adnan,
Would love your thoughts about a new type of Mobile Dating App a developper and I have been working on. It's at prototype stage.
Also, are you looking for any help yourself? I have 10 years of experience in Sales/Consulting/Management in Tech, in Europe and Asia, and would be happy to help you in any way as well if I can.

Here are my thoughts, these are some of the pain points I think you can fix.

The video at the beginning is probably not watched by people, rather use coachmarks inside the app's main screen.

The app doesn't explain what it is trying to do, I felt a bit lost when it asked for Contacts permission. Maybe adding a onboarding text to explain what you do with the contacts will be helpful

The app requests calendar permission right on the home screen, probably wait until the user navigates to the calendar page?

The UI on tasks tab is very confusing:

              1. There are two top bars, top one has sort option while the second one has filter. Ideally they should be in the same hierarchy level. Maybe move the filter option in the top bar? pushing the title to be left aligned instead of center

      	2. The tasks list expands/closes by tapping the buttons - there are two buttons doing the same functionality, hence it is confusing

      	3. Tasks marked as completed are not shown at all, I accidentally marked a task as marked & it just went away. I was not able to find it again

      New task UI

      	1. The new task screen allows me to create a new task but the save icon at the top right corner is confusing, why not put a checkmark icon or even better provide a button at the bottom of the new task screen to save the task

      	2. Look like the location is mandatory, if I deny location permission & manually provide an address it asks for permission again.

      	3. Search bar has hint text - "Privately categorize your task" which is very confusing.

      	4. The contacts list has a mixture of both my contacts & categories(Home, Shopping, etc) mixed. Maybe fix the categories at the start of the list?

      	5. If I create a task by just providing the name & description it is never shown

      	6. Creating a new note doesn't show me the note at all

      Hopefully, that helps!

Thanks very much for that , appreciated very much.

Sorry about the bug with missing task, it slipped through this version will have it fixed tomorrow.

@adi321 Thanks for helping out the community. Given your background expertise, i would love to know your thoughts.

Although I don't have a mobile app developed yet, do you think I should develop one for my product, ruttl.com?

    1. 1

Love the design, looks so good! Great work :)

Here's my opinion about having a mobile app:

Given the specific problem Ruttl is solving, I don't see a huge benefit of having a mobile app at this point. The only benefit would be ability to provide feedback on the mobile version of the website & the ability to notify/reply back to comments.

Apart from that, from a functional stand-point I don't see enough value to create an app at this moment. I would wait for a few months & see if your customers feel the need for a mobile app & only then build it.

I am happy to chat more if you want or if you have any specific questions :)

Yes I agree with you. I think the customers will be able to express the demand for a mobile app if required.

Otherwise, it would just end up being a waste of development efforts.

        Let's stay connected for sure!
