I would like to promote your product on my social media!

Hi all,

Before I even know what indie hacking is, I ended up stumbling into building a community via doing a history Podcast. I have a small Twitter audience of close to 800 followers. Just random, normal folks who are into history and podcasts. If you have a product where they might be a potential user - pass it on. I will happily promote it for free. I have been building that community for three years now and feel comfortable promoting stuff without losing them.

Bonus: If it's doing any kind of social good, not just selling stuff - I will put it on the podcast as well (~2000 unique downloads/week).

Why?
Doing sleazy marketing stuff is not for me; so I am trying to be nice and authentic hoping a few folks out there would do the same to my product - although you really don't have too! There are no strings attached. Like open source software - you can just take it and go :)

P.S.
If this post goes crazy - I will do a couple of products a day. So, it won't be too spammy.

Edit:
Okay it went crazy. I will get to everyone here. I don't want just throw meaningless stuff on Twitter, so I will thoughtfully go through every post and product and will come with a good pitch for it. To see where I am up to

    Hi Jonathan,

There was no solution for no-coders to create interactive charts and export to website.

I was surprised by the fact that none of the website builders had a built-in chart creator, there are website builders tutorials to create charts and export to website but each takes one to two hours, which is a lot.

I built https://nocodechart.xyz/, no-code solution to create charts and export to your website. The approximate time to create chart and export to your website is 5 minutes.

    1. 1

No brainer! Clear problem with an obvious solution. I wish I can pick the things I work on that eloquently LOL!

I will put it on 11/29 - early morning.

  2. 2

I have a project i just recently launched that is free and is a Twitter timeline analysis tool. it samples your timeline and tells you the mood of your timeline on a daily & weekly basis.

I built it because I spend most my time on Twitter and all of the negative news and exposure to it continuously was really bringing my mood down. With COVID we have been spending more time on social media so I made this tool that determines who negative my timeline is and who is contributing to that negativity.

Tracking that over time you can really improve your timeline. The analysis part is actually done with machine learning and is really accurate so far!

    https://twittertwill.com

    1. 1

I just tried it out. Turns out @TeamIH (https://twitter.com/IndieHackers?s=20) had the 2nd most positive and negative moods in my feed.

    2. 1

I signed up and will promote it.. FYI, the redirect after signing up is a server error.

      Edit:
Just for the record, this a pretty sick product. Totally using it regularly.

      1. 1

Oof! How embarassing. I will be looking into that right now. Thank you for the kind words and the shout out! I hope to make it something people can turn to for at least some data points!

  3. 1

Wow, thanks for doing this! I'd also love to promote my new product. It has a few user at the moment. Website: thedailywellness.co
If you sign up for the product, you receive one daily text with a wellness goal (spanning mental, physical, spiritual, emotional) - free to use, no strings attached and not another wellness app. The goals are easy, low-overhead and don't cost money.
It was "anti-inspired" by consumer companies making profit off of people during Covid whereas I think we need to make self care free and accessible

    1. 1

Great idea - Wordpress is missing up your look though see: https://imgur.com/a/JakQ8Zt

      Will promote tomorrow.

      1. 1

Thanks so much! And good catch- will fix that!
Posting your gifting site in a group with 11K female founders as we speak- someone asked about gifting so I think it's the perfect opportunity.

  4. 1

Hey Jonathan I love your gifting platform and signed up to use it. I'll definitely share with friends and on social when I will see fit (especially now during the holidays season). I am too working on a product called Welsome (https://welsome.org) whoch serves as an activity aggregator app towards actions we can take to make the world a better place. I can see Welsome integrating well with Joyful as purchasing a gift with Joyful is itself an activity and I also see that you have a Social Impact mission, awesome! If you don't mind promoting Welsome, that would be amazing! I will do the same for you. Also, if you wanted to chat offline, feel free to e-mail me at [email protected].

Cheers and keep up the great work!
    Warm regards,
    Mihai

    1. 1

Awesome idea Mihai - Thank you for the kind words.

      I will promote Welsom tomorrow.

By the way! caught a small typo toward the bottom
"Reap the rewards from yourself and your friends" - I think you meant for, right?

      1. 1

Thanks so much Johnathan! It is not a typo but now I can see why it could be perceived as such. The users can receive rewards from themselves (by rewarding themselves) and also from their friends. I need to simplify that wording a bit, thanks for the pointer!!!

        1. 1

Sounds good - sorry I have been swamped with joyful.gifts stuff. Will do it today. I promise!

          1. 1

No worries take your time!!! It's a busy time of year.

  5. 1

I'm working on something but not currently ready to have it posted yet (landing page isn't quite done). But, if you don't mind, I'll reach out later and see if you're still willing to do this :)

    1. 1

      yes! whenever you are ready!

  6. 1

    Wonderful @Jonathan_Adly

I am wondering how can I help you vice versa?

For me, I write and build VenturesList to help early-stage founder navigate their first investment. Would love to hear your opinions!

    1. 1

That's cool! The world needs quick and straight to the point MBA stuff.

As for helping me - well, suggesting a place where my potential customers hang out would go a long way. If not, just remember https://joyful.gifts exists if you come across someone who doesn't like gift shopping.

I will put it up on 11/28 at noon

  7. 1

    Hi @Jonathan_Adly,

I've created a free, lightweight status reporting tool to help companies transition to remote work during the Covid crisis. http://donemybit.com

If you could give me some exposure, I'd be more than happy.

    Thank you in advance!

    1. 1

Hey - this is cool. Simple, elegant, and useful.

I will pitch 11/29 at noon.

By the way - I noticed you use bootstrap, which I used to do as well because I am not a frontend guy and didn't get tailwinds - I came across https://www.gethalfmoon.com/ and I am so happy with it (it's open source and I am not involved at all with it). It's like bootstrap on steroids.

      1. 1

        Hey @Jonathan_Adly,

Thank you for your quick response, to be honest, I did not expect to appear that early on your podcast! Actually, I'm right in the middle of a rework with DoneMyBit: currently, users can report their statuses on a daily basis, but I got the feedback that it would be more useful to do it on a weekly basis instead. I plan to release the new version next Tuesday (1st of December), can you please postpone my appearance on the show, say, 1 week? :)

I hope this can work! Thank you!

        1. 1

Hey - I am not hosting people on the Podcast (unless they want to talk about 12th Century Middle Eastern politics :p ) - Just boosting what they are building on Social media. I can wait until December though.

          1. 1

Oh, sorry, of course. We’re on the same page, I used “I” to refer to DoneMyBit, my bad. I should have written “I did not expect DoneMyBit to appear”, haha.

Many thanks in advance! Please, let me know the new date, I’m really interested!

  8. 1

    Hi @Jonathan_Adly!

Very nice idea. My project is place to find data-backed comments on Hacker News ( at the moment ) and engage with them. I started it because I enjoyed viewing news through a "data prism".
The current goal is to help people who have data find opportunities to have conversations with them. And the long term goal is to encourage data backed arguments on social media, hoping it will lead to healthier conversations !

    link: http://datapeek.org/

    1. 1

Wow! I really didn't like hackernews - but I think all its gems were hidden looking through this page. I bookmarked it.

As of now, it's literally engineers trying to have informed opinions using health data (COVID effect I guess). I personally can add a lot to these discussions. Thanks a lot for this gem. I will promote it and use it regularly.

Going up on 11.28 at 8 pm. IF you have a twitter handle, pass it on.

      1. 1

Thanks a lot, I am so glad you liked here is the twitter ! https://twitter.com/datapeek
I just emerged from 4 hours straight, reading some of the episodes' scripts on the history podcast. It's just fascinating and it gave me new perspective on debates I had in the past.
I would love to exchange thoughts with you on a range of connected topics !

        1. 1

Any time :) There is over 300,000 words there, so naturally I love to take about it!

  9. 1

This is very kind of you to do this, Jonathan!

I have released a Christmas countdown iOS app - there are no ads and it's completely free. You can choose different characters and listen to some holiday jingles. Just want to spread some holiday cheer!

Not sure if this is the right audience, but who knows! Lots of people love Christmas!

    App link: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/christmas-countdown-pro-2020/id1540507601
    Instagram: @christmascountdownpro

    1. 2

Wholesome! I LOVE christmas. Will put it up on 11/28 - ~8pm!

      1. 1

Thank you! I appreciate it :)

  10. 1

    Hi Jonathan,

We have recently launched IndieData. IndieData provides scraped databases to solve the data extraction problems be it for marketeers or indie developers. We have 5 pre-scraped databases and we provide custom ones too based on the client's requirements.

    1. 3

Hey, this is really nice - If you manage to get your hand on a database of FDA approved drugs with their indications + average wholesale acquisition cost. I would pay for it ~$200-300 and try to build a goodRX clone with some flair. You can email with details rather than clogging that thread.

Would it put it up on 11/28 at noon.

      1. 1

        Thank you! Appreciate it

  11. 1

If they're into podcasts - maybe this would be interesting to them? https://pigeoninbox.com

    1. 1

That's innovative stuff right there! I will put it up on

      11/28 morning time EST!

      Also:

Howtoproduct is super awesome (for me). I will dive deep into it this weekend.

  12. 1

Hey @Jonathan_Adly Thank you for doing this. After working for 140 hours, I created onedealpage.com which anyone can use to explore 250+ selected Black Friday offers within 2 minutes.

It's faster, easier and beautiful... and will also save tons of money for your current/upcoming startup's expense.

    Appreciate your help.

    1. 1

It's a cool concept, but do you have any "brand" name deals that normal people would be interested in? I spent 20 min on the site, I couldn't find anything that I would use or know someone who could use.

If you pass on one of these deals - I will definitely do it!

  13. 1

What about a product from a nonprofit that's meant to help loneliness in the elderly with dementia?

    1. 1

Yes! That sounds awesome - pass it on.

      1. 1

Our nonprofit is Caring Hands Ministry.
The demo sight with the working apps is: https://memorybooks-cards.webflow.io/
I just need to give the site it's own domain.

        1. 1

Ok - this is actually pretty nice! Non-profits are all about legitimacy. I can promote now if you want - but I think waiting until you have the domain would be of a larger impact. If you give me a 30 sec blurb, I will put it on the Podcast as well.

Also - Just curious, what service do you use to the mailing? I need a solution to send people thank you cards at https://joyful.gifts (business idea if anyone wants to build it - google first page didn't have good solutions)

          1. 1

To make the books and cards I use Shutterfly. I put the projects together on their site and they mail the product directly to the mailing address I was given.
For joyful.gifts I would try to create an automation that has the card created and mailed out. Maybe Zapier. What do you mean by building out joyful.gifts? Create the actual web and/or mobile app for it?

          2. 1

I do have the main website (www.caringhandsministry.com). It also has the apps on it. For a blurb:
"Caring Hands Ministry is a nonprofit focused on providing goods and services that help the loneliness many people with dementia can feel. Two services include Memory Books and Memory Cards. Memory Books can be filled with photos of family, friends, memorable events, and significant places. We order the books and send them to your loved one free of charge. The Cards are a single photo and description that we will create and send."

I've made Remote Leaf to help people land remote jobs. Appreciate your help!

    1. 1

      Hey Abinaya -

I have no idea how tech jobs work, especially remote ones - so excuse my ignorance. I googled remote software jobs platform and got like a million free sites. Any idea how I can a pitch this in a way that's interesting? Especially that's its paid?

      1. 1

Good question, as you can see there are million free sites for finding remote jobs and that's the problem. All these job boards do not have good filters and won't personalize for users.

        Here are some cases

        1. Many remote jobs are US-centric, with Remote Leaf you only receive the jobs that are applicable to you. We filter out the noises. Remote Job boards generally don’t have a filter to choose the location restrictions if any
        2. Remote Leaf catches more than 100 remote jobs per day, more than any other jobs boards. Most remote job boards will get you 5-10 remote jobs in a day.
        3. Employers pay other job boards to feature and post their jobs. Some employers don’t want to pay to feature their job openings. Remote Leaf curates the job opening that is not well advertised in the popular job boards.
        4. We curate remote jobs from the company hiring pages, Twitter, Reddit, LinkedIn and etc, which gives you more leads to apply.
  15. 1

    Hi Jonathan!
I had a look at your product and signed up, sounds cool!
What regions (of the world) do you currently support?

As for your question: I built joinmentee.com, the world's first peer to peer mentoring platform. Where users can learn and inspire by sharing experiences.

For your audience, this would mean that people interested in sharing history (like you!) can mentor others by sharing their knowledge on the subjects that excite them.

Even if you don't feel you want to put it up, it would already mean a lot if you gave me your thoughts. I especially value feedback from specific niche users :).

Thanks a lot and good luck with growing your audience!

    1. 1

Everywhere :) (ok, maybe not North Korea) - but if we can find reliable partners there, we do it.

So I tried putting my email and signing up, but nothing happens. I would truly be interested in something like that. There are tons of doctors and pharmacists in my circle (My day job is a pharmacist) - who always reaching out to me to help them with business ventures and/or tech stuff they want to build. it would be nice to have something to organize it.

Let me know when it's ready for use and I can mess around with it and will definitely do it!

      1. 1

        Hi Jonathan,

        Thanks for the enthusiasm!

Regarding your sign-up, it looks like I might have messed something up behind the email form. Need to fix that..

I appreciate your support and I'll let you know when it's ready to go!
        Thanks again!

  16. 1

    Hey Jonathan,

I made an open source TailwindCSS template and an Emoji Searcher with React.

Thanks so much! If you could also mention my BuyMeACoffee link in the post, that would be awesome. (Displayed in the README of both GitHub repos)

    1. 2

Hey - the open source TailwindCSS link is broken :( - Also - do you a have a twitter - I can tag you with?

      1. 1

Whoops! Sorry about that. Here it is:

        https://github.com/braydentw/react-tailwind-template

No, I do not have a Twitter. Could you add my BuyMeACoffee link? https://www.buymeacoffee.com/braydenw

        1. 1

Sounds good - I noticed from your post history that you are early on the coding journey - which is very exciting, just like me!! Can I use that as my story to pitch it? People love an underdog story :)

Much better than hip new framework template. But it's up to you. Either way, its going to go up 11/27 at 8pm

          1. 1

Hey, no problem! Whatever you think is best. Actually, I’ve been coding for 4 years now. I just started learning React a couple months ago.

            Here is my portfolio: https://braydentw.github.io

            1. 1

I will mix it up then :) Love your portfolio site by the way!

  17. 1

Congrats on a great podcast, Jonathan!

We are useCastup.com, a startup that provides hands-off professional editing enabled via AI, starting at 40 ¢ per published minute.

    1. 2

This is awesome. I wish I had something like that when I started. I hated hated listening to my own voice and figuring out how to use audacity - almost quit.

      It will go up 11/27 @ 2pm

      1. 1

Ha, a lot of podcasters feel that way. Glad you stuck with it!

  18. 1

    Nice idea! :)

I made a product for Twitter threads called ThreadOk. 🧵

Twitter threads are becoming such a nice way to tell stories so, let me explain.

    Problem:

    • Many threads get lost on Twitter.
    • Threads are becoming a powerful marketing tool.
    • They’re an easy way to consume content.

    Solution:

    ThreadOk 🧵

    • Less than 20 seconds to submit a thread.
    • Just filter and find threads by topic.
    • Upvote threads and browse by popularity.

Than you and keep on with your podcast!

    1. 2

I do a lot of threads - I already made an account and using it - I can see it becoming like a search engine of twitter where you search cool threads :)

One small thing. The Submit button is misspelled - happened to me as well (I always misspell registration). See screenshot: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5cwaigpzh0vkr3d/typo - Copy.png?dl=0

Will promote it 11/27 at ~ 8 am EST

      1. 1

Thanks for the support and for lettiming me know the issue, just fixed it :)

Happy to see your threads on ThreadOk!

Where can I listen to your podcast?

  19. 1

Hi Jonathan! Thank you very much for that initiative!

I'm currently building EmbedTables.com - tool allowing you beautifully embed data from Google Sheets or Airtable in your website using pre-designed templates in 5 minutes.

I'm just started looking for beta users and any kind of shout-out would be awesome!

    1. 1

I love love this simple idea. Not only I am going to promote it. I am going to us it if I can (the website is just landing page at this point, right? I didn't see a place where I can do it).

I put up all the promos I am planning to do on a google sheet here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1mXysApzFEBqRJmaYtGF0zPB5SXq0b3AOJ6-U-kOixdA/edit?usp=sharing

Then - my plan is to put it up on my personal site at JonathanAdly.com - so people can see it updated in real time! If it's ready. LET ME USE IT! :)

Would promote it tomorrow at 9 pm!

  20. 1

    Hi Jonathan,

Thank you for paying it forward! We organize social impact-driven Equalithons (hackathons for equality) to help diverse tech innovators advance their careers by creating real world solutions. We also use the hackathons for employers to recruit and hire diverse tech talent based on mindset and skills instead of credentials. www.equalithon.io and www.essteem.com

    1. 1

A sweet spot there. I know so many talented developers who don't really fit the scene.

I would promote it tomorrow (11/26 around 8 am EST). Also, you got a minor typo in the first event. I am the king of typos, so I sympathise. See screenshot below: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6c0spxk35fnynf7/typo.png?dl=0

      1. 1

Thank you, I appreciate ur!! Also, thanks for catching the typo. 😳

      2. 1

So nice to hear that, Thank you! btw. I've just sent you an email with details about joining beta users, I hope it'll interest you.

  21. 1

Cool stuff Jonathan! I just followed you on Twitter.

Not sure if my product is right for your audience, but feel free to take a look — it's a community for European entrepreneurs. In any case, good to follow you and I'm excited to see where you'll go with Joyful Gifts!

    1. 1

Hey - that's really nice. I would do it this afternoon (EST time USA). I wish I had more entrepreneurial friends in real life (the cool type, not the overly narcissistic tech bros). IF there is a USA product similar to this, please let me know.

      1. 1

Thanks Jonathan! I indeed like to think that we're more the 'cool types' ;)

And although we focus on European entrepreneurs, we have some Americans and even someone from Kenya who is a part of our community. So you're very welcome to join us regardless of your timezone or where you are based!

  22. 1

Jonathan - huge congrats on the success of your podcast! Can you share it so we can check it out and listen? :)

Also, if you'd be open to it, we'd love to be featured in some way. We're building Circles for Zoom which is a new way to experience Zoom that turns each participant into a circle on your screen to get Zoom out of your way so you can take notes, multi-task, and get your desktop back. Since most people are working from home and using Zoom these days, I'd imagine there's a decent amount of overlap in your subscribers who might find value in it.

Thanks in advance and wishing you all the best!

    1. 2

Pretty cool - I have to attend some many useless meeting and Zoom full screen gets in the way. Would have used it and install it, but I am a windows guy.

      I put it up!

    2. 2

It’s super obscure middle eastern/Christianity history stuff lol 😅 - I will be truly shocked if there is another person like me who combines/holds these interests together.

Here it is a random episode in the middle anyway, about the collapse of the Abbasid caliphate and a slave rebellion in Iraq: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/history-of-the-copts/id1356004270?i=1000448498968

      Edit:
Also - I will try your product and promote probably later today.

      1. 1

I'll give it a listen - interested and excited to check it out!

And thanks so much! We're going to start on a Windows version soon, so I'll keep you posted!

      Hey Anna,

I loved reading this piece: https://communityweekly.co/p/communities-for-content-creators

I would put it up tonight around 9 pm EST - I think my followers would love it!

Also - I think universally people love dark mode! Maybe have this as the default?
