I know you didn't ask for unsolicited advice but here it is - I think you should be more specific with regards to what your end goal is. What sort of "needs and interests" are you trying to understand? Financial? Social? Political? Asking people to do a survey (or forward to their parents) without a clear direction isn't going to motivate a lot of people - case in point, both of my parents are above 55 but I wouldn't forward your survey to them as I have no idea what its about. The incentive is a good start, but not compelling enough of a reason.
If you really just wanted a general chat then start making friends with older people and get to know them.
