Idea check :A platform, envato+ dollar store model.

As a developer, I'm always looking for slick css, illustrations, javascripts ect. Personally sick and tired of looking at $25 for an illustration or a css design.

I would like to build a resource website with two things in mind:

Quality ---Only the slickest product.
Cheap ---Only dollar store model, meaning everything is a dollar or two.

Resources that I would like to provide in the future:

css:landing page, pricing table, buttons, forms, ect
illustrations: Backgrounds, illustrations, icons,
Scripts: javascript,PHP

the goal here is to let people spend a couple bucks to get a beautiful working website running asap.

what do you guys think?

At a dollar or two you'll get killed with credit card transaction fees.

Two sided markets are really hard, and when you're only offering your designers the ability to make $0.50 on each transaction, the quality of your products is going to be terrible.

I'm aware of that 30cent transaction fee. Im not sure of the model yet, but maybe credit system that lets people pay $5 to their account. I plan to control the product quality by contracting graphic designer and developers at the beginning. I'm fairly confident that if the quality stands out , it can have potential to go up to thousands of sales at dollar price.

The problem will be for the other side of the coin : the people creating those illustrations & code :
What will make them participate on your site where they can only have 1$ instead of going to Envato to gain 25$ ?

I plan to provide the content at the beginning, I have some developers and graphic designers willing to do this for a. Lets say I pay $100 to get a generic illustration, and if it get's downloaded more than 150 times, then I'm good to invest more into other assets.

I see, so basically you will put the "risk" on your side by buying upfront the assets. If you make the numbers correct, it can be interesting.
Still, I'm not personally a big fan of selling cheap stuffs.
Did you think about a subscription model for the end-user? With different subscription plans offering access to a certain number of assets per month?
