[Idea] Daily news transcript for language learners, would you try it?

Hello Everyone.

I am a fellow expat living in Germany and having my love/hate relationship with the language.

I am thinking about creating a platform for reading german news with live interactive transcripts.

For those who aren't familiar with it, interactive transcripts offer the possibility of reading and listening at the same time while offering the live translation. Features like translate on hover, sentence examples are also common.

There is a podcast called EasyGerman which offers this feature. It has helped me a lot, being able to read and listen to it, while having instant access to the translation got me very immersed in it and generally helps me to get in a state of flow.

However, a problem with it is that many of its topics do not interest me and if it was not for the language studies I would never listen to it , so I thought of a way to make it more productive. Because I read news everyday I thought those two could be combined, both the transcripts for practicing German and my daily news catch up.

It would work very similar to the podcast. I will ask for a native speaker to read (in German) a daily news summary and I will provide its transcript, side by side with its English translation, highlighting important verbs, expressions, feature to control the speed etc. Revenue would come from a subscription model.

Can someone offer me some feedback on the idea? What you think, would you use it?

Thanks so much
