Idea feedback: Codecademy for Digital Marketing

I'm not a marketer so I'm hoping someone in that field can chime in.. I have tried to learn it in the past and found everything very overwhelming. My idea is a learning platform for digital marketing that would be very similar to the way Codecademy operates.

For example, the lessons would be very interactive. There would be a lot of hand holding and digestible instruction with examples of real world application. With a system of gamification as well. And on top of that, there would be real life "mentors" available via chat to answer any questions.

What does everyone think? I'm not an expert in this field so I'd love to hear from more knowledgeable people on whether this could be valuable if done well.

I definitely think it would be valuable if well done! I think most of the challenge here would be creating really great lessons

What makes you think aspiring marketers need this?

Why did you think marketing was overwhelming? Do you think having a massive list of courses to take would have made it feel less overwhelming?

I do agree marketers need to access online courses to learn about specific tactics (paid ads, SEO, affiliate marketing, etc.,) but there is a lot of content out there already. Unsure of how this would be different. Every marketer has different needs and, as of now, they can just pick and choose the courses they need, rather than having them all in one place.

I think the distinction here is: Learning "FB Ads" isn't learning marketing. You are just learning FB ads. While learning FB ads is very valuable... you would have to go very deep to beat other courses that already exist. Which you could, but doing that for every marketing tactic would be tough.

    But... It could work! Maybe!

The best marketers are the best at testing ideas in the wild :)

Good feedback. My vision is it would be more of the nuts and bolts of how to setup and execute aspects of digital marketing, with some marketing strategy sprinkled in. For example if there was an SEO track, there would be lessons on how to format heading tags, how to setup google tracking + GMB, how to perform keyword research etc. If there was a track on setting up a funnel, there could be lessons to help actually set that tooling up with examples on what a successful funnel looks like.

I totally get your point that digital marketing can't be boiled down to science and results can't be guaranteed. But I suspect that there are aspects that are usually universally true. Like setting up the tooling, setting up ad campaigns, etc.

Also I know that what works for one business type won't work at all for another. i was thinking that there would be different tracks for different business types. For example, one for local businesses, one for companies selling digital products, etc. The concepts would be similar, but the examples would be different.

      What do you think?
