Hey all, just looking for feedback on an idea I have. Basically it's digital marketing consulting as a productized service. I've tried to do digital marketing in the past and I've found it so overwhelming. I would have loved to have someone looking over my shoulder to make sure I'm being setup for success. I feel that there may be other small businesses that are willing to do the marketing work but just need some help and can't afford to pay agency rates.
You would pay a monthly fee and get access to a "consultant" that would be available to help guide your marketing campaigns. You would get access to them via email or slack to chat about whatever marketing questions you have. They would advise you in setting goals, strategic planning, etc. The idea isn't totally fleshed out, but that's the basics of it. I think it would have to cost at least $99/mo.
So what do you think? Any feedback is much appreciated.
We have done exactly this thing with a specific niche. We productized our Google Ads consultancy, into a clear-cut package aimed at small businesses.
A flat rate ($475/mo) gets campaign management, which includes keyword research, bidding/budget optimization, ad copy, A/B testing, and live performance dashboard.
We have several dozen small business customers use this package, which we then usually upsell to other services or more custom management.
I would find it hard to generalize it though, beyond a niche consultancy, but I think it’s very possible. We’re exploring ways to do that even now!
Interesting, so you do the actual work? It's not just strategic consulting? Would you mind sharing a link to your site?
Yep, our company does the work, but since it's split across several different colleagues it's easily productized, and we're about to add strategic consulting into a new package specifically for small local business (something we already do on an ad-hoc basis).
Our site is: www.discosloth.com
As a marketer and marketing consultant by profession, I think productising the service is an extremely difficult proposition to crack.
I have to spend a lot of time with a business to understand their unique positioning, opportunities and issues. Without this, my advice and work is speculation, not a meaningful response.
Yes, I could advise on tactical elements (like setting up GA correctly) over slack, but I wouldn't be able to advise on strategy on-demand, at least I wouldn't feel comfortable doing so.
Thank you that's very helpful
Following this thread, we were also trying to productivise our service but we were thinking of more expensive product 😅
Hey! Take a look at GrowthMentor - this is quite similar to what they do, albeit they take from a large pool of consultants. It’s been a really successful model so far though.
Also, check out a marketing tool I’ve just built - www.immerj.io
It may give you some ideas on how to productise etc! ;)
Thanks for that link. That does seem almost identically to what I had envisioned
I think this could work best as an online course with access to a community of other business owners in Slack.
Would love to know what path your follow on this.

My thought is it would be niched down to a specific industry and there would be multiple experts on hand. Like an SEO expert, PPC expert, etc. Good feedback
