Idea/Product Validation Thru CC Payment with Stripe

Hello everyone,

I have a product that is nearing completion and is functionally complete. Before it's released though, I want to gather feedback and make adjustments while engaging with customers.

To gauge real interest, I want to do more than just collect emails, I want to start by charging them for the product upfront. I also want to give them the ability to refund at any time if they're unhappy with what they see as I work with them.

I could offer the product for free, and then charge them when it releases, but I want a slightly deeper level of investment than just an email address.

My question are: Has this sort of thing been done before, and are there any gotchas or things I should know about before attempting this with Stripe?
