Last week, I released my first course on Udemy - How to build an Uber clone with no-code using Bubble.
Here's the initial performance so far π
π¨βπ 84 students (11 paid, 73 free)
π° $143 revenue ($46 my cut after Udemy fees)
The project π
I'm currently in the process of creating a series of no-code tutorials for Bubble makers.
Before doubling down on the course content, I wanted to first validate the initial idea.
Instead of creating my own custom platform, I started small by releasing just one course on Udemy.
Although Udemy has a pretty tough revenue split, my goal wasn't to make a tonne of money, but was instead to just validate my course.
With Udemy handling distribution, this was the fastest and cheapest way to reach this point π
After launching my course, I decided to share free access to it on Twitter for 24hrs to help drive some initial reviews and social proof βοΈ
I was absolutely inundated with messages for a whole day π€―

With reviews now published on my course, Udemy users started buying it organically through the platform.
In total, 11 users paid a collective $143 for the course. My cut... just $48.

As always, I kept my expectations low going into this. I had one simple goal - generate $1 in revenue.
With a validated concept, I can now justify spending the time to create the full series of Bubble courses on my own self-hosted platform π
KEY TAKEAWAYS π
1οΈβ£ Start by thinking of a small idea, then think even smaller than that
2οΈβ£ You don't need a brand to launch a product. Just ship it, fast
3οΈβ£ Share value, receive value
If you were interested in checking out my initial Uber clone course, you can grab it on Udemy while it's on sale for 2 days here π₯
Disclaimer: if you use the link above, I'll actually get 97% of the revenue π
Nice share!
Appreciate the heads up on the handle, just updated!
One of my unfair advantages I have is that I've spent the past year working with the Bubble team to write a series of written courses for the no-code community. This role definitely didn't come easy, but it's been a great way to establish a small audience around my work on Twitter.
As for the course, it took about 5-6 hours in total:
Hope this helps!
That seems like a interesting entry-point to growing your audience, by leveraging a third party's existing channels.
Thanks for the details!
