Idea Validation: A new type of lead generation tool for indie hackers (Looking to give it away for free and get some valuable feedback)

Hello Everyone,
I have built this tool to scratch my own itch, I'm a growth hacker at a series A funded startup and always on a hunt looking for new business leads but I have to monitor 20+ channels (like Reddit, product hunt, hacker news, indie hacker, etc). So I have built a tool where you can enter the keywords relevant to your business (ex. For a design agency involved in logo designing a keyword can be "Need a Logo") and the tool will monitor all the upcoming discussions and notify you (As of now only Reddit is actively monitored but looking to add more and more channels).
It can be the most cost-effective way to generate warm leads and close deals.
Here is the link to the landing page https://termmonitor.com to help you understand better and here is the link to the dashboard https://termmonitor.com/dashboard

Would love to hear some feedback from you guys

This is a great idea nice work! I'd love to try it out too as currently am monitoring 10+ different places which is such a time-suck as a solo founder.

    1. 1

Signed up and took a look around, def have a bit of feedback so if you'd like to have a chat sometime pop me an email! Info on my profile. Excellent work all round - excited by this tool!

      1. 1

Sure sounds good! Writing you a mail right away. Would love to hear from you.
Thank you so much appreciate it.

It is similar to brand24.com I will give it a try

    1. 1

This is more specific for bigger brands who want to monitor their mentions.
What we are trying to do is for smaller indie hackers/ SMBs who want to generate leads around various social media channels. The concept is somewhat similar but the use case is different.

      1. 2

Great, I could use something like that, can't wait for release!

Thank you! You can get started by using this dashboard link https://termmonitor.com/dashboard
It is kinda in a crude stage but would love to know your feedback. You can DM me on Twitter @ronakkadhi

Thanks! I will DM you, after giving it a try!

Is it just me or is the "Continue With Google" not working on the sign-up page via the dashboard link?

As for the idea, you're on to something here as I've heard people doing this, setting up alerts and such like for Twitter.

In fact, now that I think of it, I know of a tool that's in beta. It seems very similar. Its basic premise is it will help you discover people in online communities who might be interested in your product. Happy to share the link but don't want to take away from your launch here.

As ever with these things differentiation is your friend :)

    1. 2

Thank you for the feedback. I will check the google authenticator and also meanwhile you can sign up with your mail.
It is okay I feel you can post the link here as well would love to check those guys out too.

It's gummysearch.com — saw it in response to one of those "what are you building / working on" Twitter threads.

        1. 3

Gummysearch founder @thefedoration is here on IH, too.

@Ronakkadhi I forgot to mention here that I had a look around and I think the entry-level pricing might not work for people with niche products/services. Almost by definition, they won't hit that 500 limit.

That said, it depends on how powerful this product is, if your customers can land in conversations where someone is actively looking for their service then amazing so long as they are not spammy about it. Then that's potentially quite valuable. But the "500" gives me a sense of ugh, I'm gonna be sifting through a lot of stuff. It might be counterintuitive, but at least for me fewer results yet high quality would be better. That leads me to the keyword limit.

With the "3 keywords to monitor", how does that work when the phrases used by people searching are pretty variable. As an example, I was doing some research via Twitter search and found that I had to vary the phrases a lot, before I could aggregate the conversations into a meaningful set of results. I wasn't doing it to find customers, but rather to see who is in the same space, by monitoring and filtering for the posts with the most responses. It was more of a learning exercise than anything else, but I suspect this tool could have helped.

Even taking your example "Need a Logo", that would be one keyword for the purposes of this product, yeah? What about variations like "...logo designer recommendations". I see people posting looking for "x" service to their Twitter networks etc. but "x" is highly variable e.g. "Can anyone recommend a great Webflow developer" v "I need a Webflow designer, who's great?" or such like. The Google search equivalent is longtail keywords, which while lower in volume have high intent.

I think these products have a lot of potential, but keywords alone might not work unless long-tail variations count as one. After a while, I suspect your customers would figure out what key phrases are most common for their product or services in this context (albeit it might vary by platform).

Also, generally super lazy with sign-in so prefer Google Sign In, but will check it out either way as curious about this product.

          1. 1

That is some good feedback, Thank you so much! will look into all of it.
Even our goal is to make results as relevant as possible and we are also working on a voting mechanism where
a user can vote for results as per relevance which will help us learn more about user preference.
Have DM'ed you on Twitter and would be happy to connect there

I didn't see a "sign in with Google". I can help you set that up though since I have had lots of problems with the setup process in the past. The most common problem is not properly specifying the Urls the Sign-in button is hosted on. You need to add the Urls of the pages your sign-in button is hosted on in the setup process.
        Image
*My sign-in button is hosted in an iframe hosted inside the parent URL https://twayobiz.com/login. If you're hosting it in an iframe, please specify the iframe URL and not the parent page url.

Thank you so much, will try to figure it out. Will contact you if I fail to do it properly. Appreciate it and btw a great personal website will surely refer someone.

  9. 2

Looks like a great idea. Try to give it a different angle.

Like monitor everywhere for brands or the topics you want to talk about.

It can be pretty useful for brands and even for lead generation companies.

    1. 1

Brand monitoring tools similar to this are already available, this is a similar concept but for lead generation, as you rightly said.
Would love to know more from you. Have connected on Twitter.

  10. 2

    Excellent idea

  11. 2

Just signed up. This looks interesting. I already use another product for this but it does not cover all the channels that you mentioned.

    Couple of questions & feedback.

    1. If I can already signed up today, what's the waiting list for?
    2. I had a look around after signing in. It looks like there are quite a few rough edges still(which makes sense since it's in early stages). But, it would probably be better if you could hide/remove all the parts that are not done yet.

    All the best!

    1. 1

Makes complete sense. Thank you for the feedback will do so.
Decided to start with the waitlist at first but then got excited and shared the dashboard link too after seeing so much enthusiasm around here. But ya will either refine the rough edges or remove them completely.
It will be great if you can use it constantly and see how things around the inside are developing.

Btw even for us we are just actively doing Reddit all the other channels are work in progress.

  12. 2

Sounds like a cool product. Just signed up on the waitlist.

Some keyword ideas that are on top of my mind are

              2. How to find leads
              3. Lead generation
              4. How to generate leads.
