Idea Validation: Art Marketplace
I'm currently working on an idea and was wondering if I could get feedback on my approach.
The core of the idea is to create a marketplace where local artists can rent out their art to local businesses. The idea is that a business can receive an art piece without the friction of the large upfront cost and the artist can receive a recurring income.
I'm currently in contact with a lot local artists and they seem really keen on this idea, but I'm having trouble connecting with businesses. Cold approaches (where I just walk into a business) aren't feasible in a COVID19 world.
I think in the current COVID climate this is going to be a challenging endeavor. However, when we are out on the other side and businesses open up I think this is a great idea to pursue.
I live in Austin and one of the common things I see in cafes and some restaurants is the art is displayed, but available for purchase. This might be a different monetization strategy you could consider. It really depends on what the market (in terms of businesses, not artists) has excess funds to spend on (potentially) non-essential business expenses.
