Hey Indie Hacker community!
I've been working on a small side project targeting the very niche research administration industry, and I was curious whether to create a landing page prior to reaching out to potential clients and validating my idea, or whether after the idea has been validated would be best?
I can pretty much make arguments for both cases, but would be curious to get some more opinions from members of the community if possible.

The landing page is just one additional way you can validate.
If you already have prospects and can get away with cold calling, you don't need the landing page.
The landing page has the benefit that it can be shared and shown. You can drive traffic to it. You can use it to demo what your product would be and show the benefits.
Everything is iterative. There's no right or wrong. You could call a few prospects, learn their struggles, build the landing page using their language. Then you could post a link to your landing page somewhere they hang out online.
By already having had some discussion with your prospects, your landing page will probably convert better.
Yeah, this advice is very helpful. It's given me more insight into my approach.
This is some great advice, and just what I needed to hear. Thank you for your time and input :)
I've found that having a landing page for your product or service is an excellent way to get your prospects to visualize what you have in mind. A single page with details about what you're offering, who might be interested in it, and why they should care, will help you get a clearer idea of whether there's a real demand for what you're planning.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts :)
I think it depends on the idea, but using existing static resources (Product reviews, job descriptions, etc) to see if there is some pain that people are willing to pay money for will save you from guessing in most cases.
Thank you for your response :)
