Idea Validation: Email Copy for SaaS companies

Hello Indiehackers!

I am a copywriter and I am thinking of creating a common email package of email copy in two to three different tones (formal, casual, friendly, etc.) that SaaS companies often need like the following:

For Customers:
• Welcome email
• Subscription activation
• Subscription cancellation
• Payment overdue
• Order/Payment completed
• Order/Payment incomplete, etc.

For Company:
• New sign up
• New paid subscription
• Subscription cancellation
• Payment overdue
• Order/Payment completed
• Order/Payment incomplete, etc.

What are your suggestions? What are the common problems that you face when you work on an email copy?

Thank you, would really appreciate your response.

I think that depending on the product someone is building, this is quite useful.
I've often done these kind of emails/page text myself despite being far from a specialist in copy. Each task or piece of text seems so small and simple, I wouldn't think to buy it.

But when taken in totality, and considering context switching time cost etc. it seems like a smart move.

Perhaps have an option for multiple languages too, that would be even better! Oh, maybe a freebie mini product that provides, say, five languages of common menu items/headings to get some interest via SEO/social from people working on multilang apps too.... although now maybe I've wandered too far off topic :))

You could survey the tech tools most common in your target market and provide the text via files easy to drop into their framework of choice. Files for the Laravel lang folder or Angular Translate files etc.

Thank you for your opinion. Good points to consider. :)

Good luck with the one :) I think it's a good idea worth progressing. People are buying boilerplate HTML, CSS, Bootstrap/Tailwind templates, Wordpress themes all the time. Its a smart area for reusable copy too, people want more individuality on their homepage for instance, but emails don't need to be customised so much.

If it can save me some time in writing copy for those same emails, It can definitely be of some value for me.

Your ideas are definitely useful and I can tell many businesses would benefit from it. However, I'm not sure if this yes / no questions would be truly helping you to move further :)

Have you ever read Really Good Emails? Might be good for inspirations tho.

I'm also in the process of improving my email newsletter, keen to hear your professional feedback. @kanikasachdev
