Hi,
I have been thinking of building a team-based SMS (text messages) system for sales, support, and marketing. I originally came across it when a friend looking for this kind of service.
Problem statement:
SMS is an effective medium in terms of open rates and engagement, but employees prefer not to share their personal mobile numbers, and team engagement is impossible.
Solution:
Using teamSMS a company can create multiple inboxes (mobile numbers) and assign them to departments or individuals to chat with customers and drop an incoming message.
Progress:
I have a WIP product landing page.
Competitor:
In my research, I have found a competitor in this space that has a really feature-rich product. They look like they are successful, and can add a lot of value to users.
They have a ton of features like templating, automation, CRM integrations, slack, salesforce, Zapier (allowing 1000s of integrations) and it would take a long time to have feature parity.
What do you think my options are?
A) I can ship a really simple and cheaper version of this product, and see if I get any traction, they charge quite a lot
B) I can try and niche it out, for example, integration with a CRM they don't support, or catering it to a specific industry, like hotels or plumbers...
C) Dropping it and finding something else to build.
Anyone have some insights to share on this?
Chris,
Nice to see someone else in the Sales enablement space. Such a gold mine.
I'm a sales rep who is using SMS (lots of my colleagues as well).
Let's talk?
Thanks, @goodcall321. Can you send me an email on my email address listed in the profile, or give me another way to contact you, please?
If I were you I try to find out:
What are the customers of your competition whining about? Is the lack of support or maybe tool has become too complicated to use. Try to get the problems and you could find a niche in there, which would be sufficiently differentiated.
Doing the above will also give you a set of initial customers to launch to as well.
That is a great idea, I will try to find some customers of the service and reach out to them.
