Ideas to get to $1000 in MRR

After two years of prototyping, experimenting, building, and rebuilding, we finally launched Jikoo last week. Happy to share that we have onboarded 10 customers now.

Here are some things which we did to get the initial 10 customers:

  1. (sub)Reddit(s) - Launched the product in (sub)reddits with entrepreneurs and startups as the audience. While posting always share your pitch as a story, never try to sell.

  2. Cold Email Outreach - Being a LiveChat solution I initially reached out to Founders who run tech startups in my local area. This worked really well. One of our users even shared about us to their entrepreneur slack group which bought us tons of traffic.

  3. "Powered by" Marketing - Following the strategy by companies like Intercom and Live chat we introduced "Powered by Jikoo" on our site. This helps us get a lot of eyeballs.

Things I am planning to do to reach 50 customers:

  1. Register is SaaS directories
  2. SEO (starting immediately)
  3. Product Launch Platforms (Product Hunt, BetaList, etc.) - Not a long term approach but very useful for a quick spike in traffic
  4. Linkedin outreach to new startup founders

What are some suggestions to take the product to $1000 in MRR?

I'm not a SaaS expert but those are ideas that I would test and experiment with. If successful then scale

    1. A/B Test Landing Pages if you have enough traffic.

    2. Comparison Pages to other tools (competitors). Make it visual, since some people don't read but look at pictures, comparison tables, infographics, etc... Be honest in your comparison Pages. If your tool can't do it, then let the users know. Highlight your good sides and let them know about what you've removed to make it simpler, more efficient, etc.. What I also like are the sections about who is NOT the right customer.

    3. Google Ads that lead to Comparison Pages. If people google your competitors your comparison page can show up and people might like your tool better

    4. Retargeting Ads. Most people don't decide in the research phase. So it's important to have a retargeting campaign in place to market during the entire research phase.

    5. Capture E-Mail addresses. If possible have something that captures those emails and reach out through an Email Marketing Campaign. Create an amazing Offer. For example the reason I subscribed to Adespresso was that they offered 50% off the first year if you signed up during the trial phase and they advertised that through their emails.

    6. Appsumo - great way to get new customers. You will create a Lifetime Deal for their customers. It's a 50:50 Deal with Appsumo.

    I hope that helps :)
