If Instagram, Notion, and Webflow had a baby what would it be?
Hi fellow hackers,
I've been working on a project for a few months now and would like to stop and think for a second to see where it's headed.
I need your wise advice.
Cabane is supposed to be a website builder, one that you can use from your phone and is very intuitive to take for a spin.
But here is the thing: I'm not sure it's a website builder after all.
Everyone has approximately the same idea of what a website should be. And this is clearly not it. It's not a landing page either or a form builder.
I've shown it to friends, and although the inspiration from Instagram and Notion is real, nobody has found out what to do with it.
But I guess, the same could be said for Notion uh? It's a place where you can write stuff and have a database and links and more... confusing right? Their product is useful nonetheless. So here is my question to you:
"What do you think Cabane is, and more importantly what do you think it could be ?"
There’s a difference between, “no one has figured out what to do with it,” and a product just not being useful. Which one do you think it is?
The use case is pretty clear on the landing page.
Okay, in that case, maybe the use case is clear but the differential factor is not.
I like what @debbie_w and @goo6 have mentioned because it makes the target market that much precise and easy to spot. At least to start.
You won’t ever go wrong if you focus on useful, usable, and desirable. Everything points to user experience these days. 👍
I like this a lot and will probably sign up. I think you could spell out what you end up with at the end. Is it a sub domain of cabane? Do you offer a way to move your page to a domain once it blows up? Domain registration might be a good add on for you. Might be good to have a showcase section that has links to example pages created by the tool.

You do end up with a subdomain of Cabane (check out https://louis.cabane.app/578611680) and yes custom domains could be the next step. I need to see if that's something people ask for regularly

I can see this being popular for influencers with little technical knowledge. Reminded me of https://milkshake.app/. That said, if you want to target influencers, I think you need to rethink the wording / value props you mentioned on the landing page.

I like that it's mobile, that's a great differentiator between the millions of other website builders. Plus I see this appealing to a more casual crowd looking to have some space outside of social media on the internet. To me this is the kind of thing I see being linked in someone's Instagram bio or something, sort of like Carrd but with forms and a blog. Best of luck, I definitely like this idea.
