I am working on a private and more straight forward menstrual tracker app I call POW!
To make sure I make something that scratches more than my own itch I need help from other menstruators.
There will be a survey and a few user testing sessions in January.

what will you do better then the millions of trackers out there?
I hope to make one that is much simpler than the ones I have found. Letting you use your own expressions for symptoms etc. instead of having to scroll through a million preset ones.
The data will also be encrypted so that only the user and not even me, the developer, will be able to access it. I believe this might tie in with the level of detail they ask for, it might not all be for the users' benefit.

yes, but how should one make money then? or would you assume that consumers are willing to pay for such an app on a subscription base to get privacy? you need to get min 40 better 60 - 80 EUR/user/yr to make the CACs somehow covered. I guess even more.
I like the idea and i agree that current solutions are ui wise crap, bloated and so on but not sure if such a product would be easy to push into the market with so much competition

Yes, I am assuming people are willing to pay for it, but I am also planning to use POW! to launch a wider conversation about privacy first apps and how to make them that will hopefully lead to speaking, workshops and consulting clients.
I still need and want the app to break even, so I will have to make sure I do solve a problem people have.

sounds like a plan and like no plan at the same time. yes you might be able to create one, two maybe three PR stunts but if you suffer from a too low LTV you are doomed. also making an app is hard, two clients, a backend, shitty app stores gatekeeping you from the users. Skyhigh CACs. Programming a Microsoft Word is 10x easier than getting another Snapchat out. Not sure if this field is oversatured and the demography which is huge (all sexually active women) actually care about privacy in this context. did you ask some female friends around if there care about privacy? i mean assuming they use iphones, the app provider should not get any relevant data than their cycle time, "so what" might many say...
finally these apps, don't have lock-ins, network effects, ways to get viral means inviting friends/interacting. just look at clue, raised big bucks and now? stagnation everywhere...
