I found this offer https://appsumo.com/sendfox/
I am not affiliated in any way.
I was attracted by the unlimited emails at a super low price and the landing pages. You can set up drip campaigns, segment users, see who opened and who didn't. It can't compare with Mailchimp, Sendgrid and other big names on the number of feature but it is a life time deals and cost less than two months with those Saas.
For now, I bought the smallest package (5k subs) to test the product. They said that the offer isn't going to end soon, so I wanted to have more info before committing. Right now I am satisfied with the solution. It doesn't have the ability to import HTML but I can easily live without it.
You can get life-time free plan up to 2500 subscribers and send up to 15000 emails/month in https://www.sender.net/ . With this plan you will get all features to create drip campaigns, automate segmentation, follow ups/responses, create custom email design with photos, videos, HTML code or use templates for that.

I'll start this by saying Sendfox is run by AppSumo. AppSumo as you may know offers life-time deals (LTD) for SaaS products which are starting out. Usually it's done at a heavy discount and that's done to give the product some early traction. So it is legitimate.
Now, generally speaking when someone does an LTD they give 70% of that revenue to AppSumo as well for promotion. So on a $50 LTD you'd take $15 and then be expected to support that user for life. So by owning the company which is doing the promotion, they're a little way ahead and have $50 of revenue to play with.
Simply put, when running an LTD like this you treat the users who buy it and then use the product as an ongoing marketing cost. In the same way we do at EmailOctopus with our free users. We give away 2,500 contacts per month with 10k emails. So 1 user can cost us up to $1 per month and we're ok with that, in the hope they upgrade. SendFox have increased that limit and are willing to support customers at a much higher cost – their plans are carefully curated, notice they all require branding, to encourage upgrades to a SaaS model in the future from users who don't want that and to encourage some virality around the product.
So, in short – they're doing this as a marketing launch.

All your points are based on the fact that they want to make money on these deals. This is clearly not the case. The deals will provide them with a huge amount of testers to improve their tool and make it competitive with the other giants. Then they will get interested in profits.
Sendfox is part of the sumo family. Sumo and appsumo are both 8 figures businesses, then they have other products like briefcasehq. They bought the sumo.com for 1.5 million dollars. They have the money and the reputation.
And a deal like this how much money is worth for them in advertising (the small branding at the end of the email? Plus, even if they failed in a couole of years, you still had two years of email marketing for 2,5 months of email octopus which is one the lowest priced solutions on the market.
Honestly, I can't see any downside.
