If you are struggling to find good ideas
This post covers a few sources you use to find some good ideas. Don't rush without doing proper research.
A good research saves you hundreds of hours from working on a wrong product.
- MicroSaaSIdeas - A newsletter run by me where you can find more than 1000+ profitable Micro SaaS ideas and other profitable products with deep-dive reports across 90 SaaS niches.
- Observer MicroAcquire and see what products are being sold
- See on Reddit. Use GummySearch for more insights around Reddit.
- Observe ProductHunt, and BetaList launches closely.
- Follow founder Interviews on FounderBeats.com
- See on IndieHackers - Every day, many discussions are being done on IndieHackers.
- Quora - See questions related to your niche and see what kind of discussions are going on in Quora
- Our own pain points - Observe your own pain points. These observations could be even from your day-to-day work. See if others have the same problem so that you can build a solution out of it.
- ExplodingTrends is another good place to see which topics are trending and build products around growing trends
- Product review sites like G2, Capterra - See for negative reviews/missing features in user comments on popular products and see if something can be built to fix those issues
- MicroSaaSHQ - A community run by me for Micro SaaS builders, makers, and founders. It's an async community for hundreds of founders.
Some quick pointers for every idea:
- Do Keyword analysis and see the volume of Keywords for your topics.
- Look at not just the search volume, but also see if the trends are exponentially growing.
- Marketing/Sales come first. Tech comes next. Unless you have a vast audience.
- How are current players doing if any?
- Can I get 20-30 direct contacts in the niche to talk about my product without actually building the full-blown product?
- Are there any communities exclusively for this on IH, Reddit, or anywhere?
Upen's MicroSaaSIdeas and MicroSaaSHQ are great resources of inspiration and feedback - highly recommend!
Also, huge +1 to the approach of reviewing sites like G2 and Capterra. I've been exploring it recently and got really good insights. I would assume the approach is especially useful if there are several well established competitors in the niche.

I say find a niche problem rather than build a solution, but to do that, you must go outside your world and talk to niche groups. This is what stops a lot of people from finding ideas.

I'm building a no-code tool called Slashpage that makes it super easy to create web pages. I've gathered a handful of beta users, but I'm struggling to find a wider audience.
I would niche it down first. Find a specific audience that would need a web page builder tailored for them ✂️

Not sure about ExplodingIdeas. The problem with Trends/MeetGlimpse is there are not just SaaS they are more into Non SaaS trends like Oat milk, Sleep patterns, Pimple Patches, Radiology trends etc that don't make sense for a lot of SaaS builders.

Agree about G2/Capterra, reviews are really authentic, as they run through moderation, so people's thoughts from there would be valuable.
