If you build a community, people will come? 😖

No.

This is a myth. You can't just build a community and expect people will show up.

There are few basic steps that you need to take in order to build a community where people will show up:

1. Look around and search for big communities which already exists.
2. Talk to members of the community and ask questions.
3. Try to find out what's currently missing in the community.
4. Try to find out if members think that atmosphere in a community is toxic. Generally when community gets bigger it will not be same and welcome when the community was small.
5. Build relationships with member in those communities by providing value.
6. Help them.
7. After doing 1-6 work on an idea of your community and ask member if they would like to have a sneak peek.
8. Start doing one on one onboarding with your community members when they join. Make them feel special.
9. Repeat 5 and provide value.
10. Ask members if they would like to invite one of their close friends or colleagues.

That's it. That's 10 tips to solve "build it, they'll come" phenomena.
