I have used ahrefs.com briefly and planning to join back once I have my MVP done. You can simply check what your competitors are doing and copy some ideas.
The cost is a bit steep (99$ per month) but I think its worth it considering how much information you get from checking what your competitors are doing.
It will also give you keywords with low competition so you can rank higher quickly.

I would recommend guest posts and other forms of SEO marketing.
I second that, this will be a long-term one and from my point, it will give you more credibility compared to ads.

Ads works better when you already have a proven concept and a fair amount of users to keep your business running.
It depends on where your customers spend their time. Possible options are Linkedin, PH, Quora, Facebook, etc., If you can share more about your product and target audience it will get you better feedback.
Don’t want to make an ad for my products, but it has a focus on the dev community or smaller tech focused companies.

I'd A/B test a bunch of target keywords in google Ads, whichever one converts the best I'd start to target that in search engines.
Then I'd do the same in LI or FB, but this time I'd test my marketing message to which drives the most conversions.
For a previous company I did that and found you need to spend thousands to properly test and find the right key words - just not enough volume to test much if your budget it low.
Reddit ads in general. But honestly it depends on what it is and where you're customers are.
I’ve never tried reddit ads, but read a bunch that they get a lot of fake clicks. Have you had success with Reddit?

My customers are developers or small companies. Generally those who are comfortable with code.
