If you have to go out, but don't have a face mask…

Get one and keep everyone else around you safe.

Here's what I use:

4-Layer washable/reusable Face Mask

4-layers is thick (you can't see light through it). Super comfortable to wear and doesn't shrink when you wash it.

It's best to not go out, but I know we still have to get groceries, doctor's appt's, etc.

Be safe all! 👍

Not to pass a value judgement, because where would the world be without naysayers, but your Logic is a bit flawed unless you know with 100% certainty that you haven’t contracted the virus, which you don’t. So, everyone should wear them, regardless of lab specs/etc.

I'm not calling you a naysayer because you follow scientific advice; I was calling you a naysayer because you were being a naysayer. I, too, shave with Occam's Razor, studied computational neuroscience as an undergrad and read Kuhn's The Structure of Scientific Revolutions, which I highly recommend...even if it does knock science a bit off of it's pedestal.

To concede, if it were to work, everyone would need to wear one in public places. To @Primer's point, it isn't about not catching CV, but rather it is about not spreading it.

Do you seriously believe that if someone next to you on a subway coughs, that it makes no difference whether or not they're wearing a mask?

All the actual science says you should only wear a facemask if you are ill yourself or if you're treating someone who is ill

      That's just not true: https://twitter.com/jeremyphoward/status/1249698787666399235

the caveat that there is that it should be a N95 medical-grade mask
For droplet based transmission, a cloth mask will do. For particulate transmission, it won't.
