If you love reading books would you use this?
If you love reading books I would love your feedback on this.
I love to read but often can find I leave with only good highlights/bookmarks, but what comes next? how do I actually change my life. I had an idea in a dream, what if I could learn from other people who have actually transformed their life, business etc with a book. Someone who has put into practice lessons they learnt and can help others do so too.
Here is a little blurb:
Whether a physical book or audio book, we remember key parts of a book by bookmarking or highlighting words that jump out to us from the page or story. But memory alone doesn't lead to transformation, habits do. We believe there is a better way to be transformed by the books we read.
Chaperone brings learners together around a book they love with guided instructors that help create actionable plans that change their life

- If you have been transformed by a book, would you feel comfortable leading others to create plans that help them change?
As an avid business books reader, I would love to see this implemented in a way that works. I am thinking more of learning from other user's experiences around that book, rather than following guided instructors.
I am constantly looking for new frameworks and techniques in every lecture that could be applied successfully, and having social proof that shows you how certain aspects lead to success would be great.

Thank you for sharing this feedback @StudioDefalt yes the idea would be it would be peer to peer discussion/learning + chaperone (one key feedback I keep getting is 'instructor' doesn't sit well with folks, I need to think of a different word because the idea is simply they would 1) facilitate group conversation and 2) provide you questions/like workbook questions that can help you create a plan and take something tangible away that you can implement from the book) - with that clarification, would the peer to peer + guide of some sort be interesting?
Again, the concept is definitely interesting. For real!
I do not fully understand the user journey though. How are these books and 'guides' selected? What is their incentive in spending their time 'coaching' these people with these actionable plans? And how would people even be recruited towards these clubs? Would it be some sort of directory of available books + guide pairings, with pre-created actionable frameworks that they get access to, and the guide only steps in when someone needs further clarifying? Or is this a more intimate experience, where this supposed guide is actually following each one of these users journeys and tailoring their guidance accordingly to everyone? This would suppose some sort of limited-seat clubs, and might work on a business model that relies on urgency (like bidding for seats or waitlists). Just letting my mind get carried away here hahah, but I am definitely curious about how you thought this whole user journey through for both sides of the coin - users and guides.

Definitely there is space to connect book lovers and your idea sounds interesting. To be honest, I was contemplating on something similar but did not want to end up creating a slightly improved goodreads clone. I love reading. Concerning non-fiction, my retention rate and application rate are low. So the problem you are trying to solve is mining "actionable knowledge" from books from people who read and applied those ideas in their life. Please DM me and we can perhaps discuss a bit further

I love reading books. (Specifically hearing audio books). There are a lot of things I take away from these books. But what I take away is a function of my "interpretation" of the book.
Let me give you an example. There is a book: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Red_Queen:_Sex_and_the_Evolution_of_Human_Nature
The book was about a lot of different things. But one of the big ideas about "the red queen effect" which basically says that: In systems where things are competing to survive or thrive, more often than not, you end up in a situation where you do a lot of work to get ahead but never actually make any progress. So you "run with all your might" and stay in the same place. The name "red queen" comes from Alice in Wonderland. For Example: Email spammers and Gmail are competing with each other. They make some progress on each side and do something to stop the other guy. Then, the other guy once again finds a loophole and we are back to square one. And this effect of "working hard but eventually coming back to the same place" can be seen in a lot of things.
Now, coming back to your question: to me the above was the most mind-blowing thing I got from this book. I started to see the pattern everywhere. And recognised the battles I should start to opt out from.
My question is: Could you help me understand how your product or service would help in the case of abstract ideas such as this one?
Thi sounds like a really cool book @khoj_badami I might grab myself. If there was a chaperone leading this i would imagine some of the actionable plans would be around what are the top 1-3 areas you feel the 'red queen' effect happens to you in your life? describe them 2) what is the edge / zero to one advantage you could implement or practice to swing the edge in your favour significantly, what are the threats to its success, what one thing can you do each week or month to track your progress etc......something along these lines
Love this idea. I think having a deeper reading experience could mean:
Is this idea to create an online community that brings people together around books?
Or is it to create spaces around certain books, in particular? I feel that the net could be cast both broadly and narrowly here, and I'm interested to see how this shapes up!

I had an idea similar to this a few years ago.
Highlights are forgotten, but provide value if refreshed frequently. So I thought of moving highlights into flash cards, so that you could re-expose yourself to the key concepts regularly.

I Love reading business books and I am constantly looking for comments and recommendations on books from someone else to find the next one to read. What I normally do is, when someone needs help on something I recommend (Sometimes Gift) a book that helped me to overcome that issue or I felt it could help. Unfortunately not everybody is into reading. With your idea, I believe everybody will be more exciting to get into the book and find out what I can offers them.

This is the idea! @Alexandra_G learning via books, its interesting + being able to see what others got from it + personalised plan take away could be a powerful way to learn. My challenge now is to find cool people to lead a club, any suggestions welcome
I think this is one of those ideas where you would have a number of assumptions about your users, some right and some not, but you really would learn mostly after you get it in their hands. You could learn some fascinating things is my bet.

I'm not an avid reader myself but I do find your idea very compelling, kinda like a book club and English lit class rolled into one.
An idea that popped into my head while reading this was, if these discussions are being logged online, and two different book clubs in different parts of the world are reading the same book, it might be interesting for members of one club to log in to see how the other club is interpreting the same book.

Really appreciate chiming into this @nickmyrtou your feedback aligns with others and one key takeaway for me is to be clearer that this is peer to peer learning.
